Bush WMD Response to Target Bill Clinton

One of the centerpieces of President Bush's counter-offensive against his Iraq war critics will be a Republican National Committee commercial focusing on a speech given by former President Bill Clinton.

U.S. News & World Report says the RNC ad will spotlight Clinton's Feb. 17, 1998 speech on Iraq, where the former prez "guaranteed" that Saddam Hussein would use his weapons of mass destruction.

"Let's imagine the future," Clinton said seven years ago. "What if [Saddam] fails to comply [with U.N. sanctions], and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made?"

Clinton warned: "He will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction.

"And some day, some way, I guarantee you, he'll use the arsenal."

Other soundbytes from Democratic flip-floppers will feature WMD warnings from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

How can this country survive when the Democrats and their media accomplices are seditious, unrelenting purveyors of THE BIG LIE? And who do you think set this tactic into motion, anyway?

This legacy confab is in and of itself proof certain of clinton's deeply flawed character, and a demonstration in real time of the way in which the clinton years were about a legacy that was incidentally a presidency.

Madeleine Albright captured the essence of this dysfunctional presidency best when she explained why clinton couldn't go after bin Laden.

According to Richard Miniter, the Albright revelation occurred at the cabinet meeting that would decide the disposition of the USS Cole bombing by al Qaeda [that is to say, that would decide to do what it had always done when a "bimbo" was not spilling the beans on the clintons: Nothing]. Only Clarke wanted to retaliate militarily for this unambiguous act of war.

Albright explained that a [sham] Mideast accord would yield [if not peace for the principals, surely] a Nobel Peace Prize for clinton. Kill or capture bin Laden and clinton could kiss the accord and the Peace Prize good-bye.

If clinton liberalism, smallness, cowardice, corruption, perfidy--and, to borrow a phrase from Andrew Cuomo, clinton cluelessness--played a part, it was, in the end, the Nobel Peace Prize that produced the puerile pertinacity that enabled the clintons to shrug off terrorism's global danger.

Have you seen the "Thank You, America!!" commercials from the Iraqi Kurds??

Nope, I've seen nothing.

I did hear that GW will rebutt the Dumbocrat's in Anchorage today. I will wait and see; I'm expecting a strong response from him.

So then the Democrats say "Oh, that was just Clinton telling lies" and we say... ? Citing Bubba as a source is fraught with peril.

Nope, we're safe for two reasons. First, assume Clinton's telling the truth. The Dems constant refrain was that Clinton only lied about personal issues, never about anything that mattered, so they defend us in this example. Second, assume he's lying. The Dem's can't come out and say he lied about national security issues (see #1 above.) They're painted into a corner on this one.

I just took the Freeper poll on President's Bush's Commander-in-Chief performance. While I don't support everything he's done as president, he's A-Plus on his Commander-in-Chief's role. The dems should be ashamed of themselves, reinventing history and trying every and anything to attack this president. Nancy Pelosi saying there is a "culture of corruption" in the White House is an unfounded assertion and damages this country just by her saying it. Not to mention Ted Kennedy comparing our troops to the Abu Garub torturers "under new management", Senator Turbin comparing our troops to Nazis, going on talk shows for two days reinforcing this statement before providing the world's worst apology. I'm sure I'm missing a few other dem actions such as Senator Kerry outing a CIA agent and Harry Ried saying he was tricked into voting for the Iraq resolution. Just disgusting democratic behavior.

They're painted into a corner on this one.

Let us bear in mind George Will's great dictum: "You can no more embarrass a senator than you can a sofa."

he'll use the arsenal

Depends on the meaning of "use". Of course he "used" it. He "used" it to get UN support. He "used" it to get financial support. But I never meant that he would "use" it on us.

I don't know where you live but the commercials are playing here in Virginia.

They are VERY powerful. I had tears in my eyes after watching it. Hopefully, you'll get to see it soon.

My nephew is in the U.S. Army, stationed for the time being in Alaska. He was chosen for special duty today. Since today was his "day off" he wasn't thrilled about it until he was told that he was going to meet President Bush. My nephew adores his Commander-in-Chief, the same as his Uncle George does!!

We full time RV and right now we're in Las Vegas and have yet to see it. I would really like to; perhaps I should stay home for a while and out of the casino's, haha.

Sounds like he had some type of escort duty as Bush was in Anchorage today. Hope he got to see him. Where in Alaska is he stationed? I spent 4 years up in Fairbanks and loved it.

My nephew is stationed in Anchorage, and he was at Elmendorf AF Base for the President's arrival. He did get to see the President, and knowing Chris, I bet he got to shake his hand, just like I did.
