I listen to KGO during the day. Owens is liberal, but not a moonbat like most of the after-dark crowd. I really enjoy Wilson. He too, is a liberal, but he's not afraid to point out the hypocrisy of many on the left. Wattenburg's fine, but he's never on when I'm listening to the radio.
Lee Rodgers used to be on KGO but left, for Seattle I think. I really miss Duane Garrett. He was some kind of Democrat party advisor, but he really understood politics, and his analysis was usually MOT.
My son listens to KSFO sometimes, but I don't get it where I work.
Northern California newstalk radio means only one thing to me!
SAVAGE!!!!!!!!!!
If that Leftist fat assed Bernie Ward really said that --- he has finally slipped that last few inches into DU insanity....
Liberalism is truly a mental illness --- rendering the insane sonsuvbitches as feckless imbeciles....
Semper Fi
I remember Owens...He is not as hysterical as Bernie Ward.
Duane Garrett...His radio show wasn't too bad. However, he committed a suicide many years ago.
I think Lee Rodgers is on KSFO.
You are correct on all counts.
I agree with you on the KGO hosts. The late Duane Garrett was always interesting to listen to, as he didn't let his political sentiments cloud his analysis.
I often enjoy listening to Gene Burns from 7-10. He's pretty libertarian. Definitely down on the Iraq war, but again strikes me as pretty analytical and even-handed on most issues.
Turned on Old Glory and am getting a good signal tonight....
Dr. Bill can rip on Bernie Ward all he wants, Dr Bill has a higher number of listeners....Plus he does the show from high up in the Sierras in Greenville on his ranch.
Gene Burns is solid. You might disagree with him, but at least his opinions are based on genuine conviction. He's one of the few things I miss about San Francisco.
Man, they are still talking about it....
Now he is talking about the liberals sitting on their drunken butts "playing with each other"....
The lefties on KGO are allies of Al Qaeda.
It was the KGO All-Star Event. Bunch of liberal talk show hosts at a public forum bashing George Bush at every opportunity. Ben was the ONLY conservative on the panel of six and he was clearly outgunned, but he stood his ground.
Gene Burns is spectacular, he is a libertarian who makes a convincing argument even when you disagree with him. Pete Wilson is also great, he leans to the left, but he's not afraid to point out the hypocrisy of the loony left, which often drives his listeners nuts.
The worst is the guy on Saturday evenings. I won't even mention his name. I hadn't heard KGO in a while and I turned on the station and heard him. It made my blood pressure shoot up. I can't remember exactly how he put it, but he said the religious right's effect on Congress was worse than 9/11.
It has happened on KGO before, and one of the hosts was from Southern California. Back when Dr. Laura was on KGO, she and DR. Dean Edell (whose home station is KGO) went a few rounds on circumcision. Edell is a self-hater who thinks circumcision is evil, and for a week they really got in it. He used to be on noon until one, and she came on right afterwards. One day he bashed her, and she must have heard it, because she came right on after his show and fought back. I just wish they could have actually fought over it. I'd take Dr. Laura any day. She may be short, but she's feisty, she's a blackbelt, and Edell is, well, from Marin. Need I say more?
I used to listen to KGO...back in the 60s. I think it was on Saturday night when they would bring on the show called "Dreadful Mysteries." It was hosted by Claude the Magnificent, who spoke in a Transylvanian accent, and always talked about his wife Gor, who had long lovely hair...growing out of her shoulders! It was fun stuff for a kid, listening to long distance radio from all the way up in Oregon in the bedroom with the lights out, only interrupted by my Dad ragchewing with his buddies on 75 meter ham radio.
Anyway, that may not be what you're looking for but that's my memory of KGO.
I used to listen to Owens pretty regularly, until I got the impression that he tailors his opinions on any given day to maximize his listening audience. That, and he's positively a starstruck suckup when interviewing Hollywood celebrities.
Do they have KSFO firewalled at your work? IMHO, Lee's a likeable curmudgeon who occasionally overindulges in rants; Officer Vic is the smartest thing about the show; and Melanie Morgan is like nails on a chalkboard.
Ray Talliafero is still there?
I agree, he is pure evil - a 1%er if there ever was one.
I used to listed o KGO (Jim Eason in the afternoon) back in the early 80's....had a cool weatherman whos name escapes me.
