Bill Richardson: I'm Running in 2008
NewsMax.com ^ | November 12, 2005

He "bobs and weaves" when asked about running for president in 2008, according to the Washington Post's Al Kamen.

But Kamen says that New Mexico's popular Gov. Bill Richardson is telling friends his hat is in the ring for the presidency.

Kamen describes Richardson as "the former congressman, energy secretary, ambassador to the United Nations, globe-trotting troubleshooter" and notes he was in Washington last week to promote his new autobiography, "Between Worlds: The Making of an American Life."

During a Beltway dinner, Kamen writes, Richardson spilled the beans to dinner companions.

Questioned about his presidential plans, Richardson told friends, "You gotta read my book."

Richardson also said that governors were the future for Democrats.

A gentle slap at presidential wannabes Sens. Clinton, Kerry and Biden?

Richardson urged guests to "Keep your powder dry" in throwing support to another candidate.

"I'm running, and you can tell people that," two other dinner guests recalled him saying "I'm going in 2008," Kamen quotes Richardson.

"FOB?"

FOB=Friend-Of-Bill

The cabal of shysters and thugs that the Clintons call "friends".

This is one guy that could hurt us...IMHO. He is the only Dem that has a chance in hell of winning against any Republican.

If we put up another Bob Dole, many conservative will stay home and this guy will get elected.

Wouldn't you just love to see Hillary! attack Richardson over his involvement in the Monica affair?

Hillary!: "We don't need a president who, as Secretary of Energy in charge of the nation's nuclear labs, was relegated to glorified taxi driver to shuttle a mistress to a job interview in New York!"

I think all of his decent sounding ideas have been planned for the very purpose of running for President. I hope he doesn't run. There's no way a Republican win without New Mexico's electoral votes. /sarcasm

Kerry did not win NM

Correct

Governor Richardson made a total fool of himself claiming Kerry would win it for sure, was winning it on election night, etc.

Richardson has never claimed to be a Republican that I can recall...so how could he be a RINO?

Richardson is an incredible grandstanding publicity hound.
Which I guess might be a plus for a politician, however I found him to be very transparent. He may have some scandal troubles ahead because their a strong rumor that he as the source of the leak that 'Won Ho Lee' was the FBI prime suspect. Now that Lee has been cleared of any espionage crimes, he is now suing DOE, FBI etc & probably Richardson for leaking his name to the media.

I think Richardson is a bigger threat than Hillary Clinton.

You think Americans will elect an oily fatso as the President?

"You think Americans will elect an oily fatso as the President?"

Uh, they elected the ( fill in the blank ) ,William Jefferson Clinton. And darn near elected Al Gore as well. That should be warning enough. : )

I guarantee you , Richardson will be a front runner for the Dems if he can raise the money. I think that will be his biggest hurdle.

If he doesn`t get the nod from the Dems for the top spot, he will certainly most be the Vice-Presidential candidate.

But Hillary isn`t going to be the Dem nominee. Although I hope she is because she will lose big against just about any Republican candidate.

Did you all just hear him on FOX news... Chris Wallace ended his segment with him asking Richardson (Based exactly on the basis for this whole thread) Did you tell the people at this gathering that you were going to be a candidate for President in 2008? Yes or NO, a one word answer.??

He danced around and implied that it was a lie, that he never said anything like that at all. Then when pressed by Wallace for a simple yes or no again, he danced some more, said his only concern was being able to serve the people of New Mexico as their Governor in 2006 and beyond..... But he wouldn't rule out becoming President sometime in the future.

Hmmm... Does that non-answer answer remind you of anyone else???

I can't believe that anyone would be dumb enough to not see through this kind of maneuvering and vote for such a person to become 'dog catcher' much less Governor or President...... But apparently 63% (if I remember correctly) of New Mexico voters fell for it in 2002, and I'll bet that close to 50% of the voters in the USA will fall for it in 2008 if he gets the chance.
