"French youths" have cell phones, cars, boom boxes, and gold chains around their necks.

I've always wondered -- how do these guys know which car to torch? How do they know it doesn't belong to one of their fellow gangbangers.

local newspaper today had actually dug up an article blaming the "kid's" parents, specifically the lack of spanking. The reason no spanking? French laws against it and fears of a "policeman knocking at the door" if corporal punishment alleged. Thus the MSM leftists, in order not to attribute the violence to Muslims, are being forced to call for spanking!!

"The violence in France has not taken on religious overtones," said the New York Times. "Islamic ideology and leaders play no role in the disturbances," said the Washington Post.

More penetrating insight from the clueless.

But the "disaffected youth" shout "Allahu Akbar" as they toss Molotov cocktails into churches and synagogues. They talk of turning Paris into "Baghdad on the Seine."

What a surprise.../sarcasm

French arrogance and racism, and the sclerosis of the French welfare state help explain why the elephant hasn't assimilated.

Assimilation is a myth. One must first want to assimilate. Why would anyone wish to trade their faith for a secular socialism?

"The cops are petrified of us. Everything must burn," said a poster on an Islamic Web site.

"We aren't going to let up," said another. "The French won't do anything, and soon we will be in the majority here."

That Islamist may be right. Though fewer than 10 percent of Frenchmen are Muslims, more than 30 percent of those under age 20 are.

Do you all have any idea how dreary life is in France, especially the suburbs? For me that's the elephant, or part of it. It's 8pm, the café/tabac, the bakery and the grocer have just closed. That's it. The town is closed. The streets are dead and street lights dimmed. The French are sitting round the table, in front of the blaring TV, watching the news and eating. Often there are two TVs at each end of the table so everyone can see. In Paris (inside the walls), on the high streets, it's a little better, more international, more animated, and more expensive. But, where do you park?
You may say it's the same in the States, but it's not. In the States you've got music bars that are not expensive, pubs, tons of 24/7 coffee shops, gyms open late. I used to play tennis at midnight. You can go for a drive, see the lights, go parking. Having fun isn't expensive in America. In France it costs. I doubt if you could find one 24/7 coffee shop in France, (oh yea, on the highways, way out of town). There are no drive-ins, few fast food places, no large club/bars with plenty of parking. There is nothing for young people to do. It's a sad country of sad people.
And you know, it's a big step up from North Africa and Arabia.
