People can afford a lot more than they think. It is a matter of priorities. We are lower middle class. I stay at home and educate our kids so we are raising our family on one income. It’s not very high, either. We don’t have nice furniture. We have a nearly 100 year old home. We don’t have cable let alone a big screen TV. My husband drives a 14 year old truck.

We often find ourselves in financial difficulties but God always manages to get extra money to us when we really need it. It’s usually barely enough to cover whatever crisis we were in but we manage. Pinch a little tighter here and there. We eat a lot of rice and beans!

I hate the “we can’t afford it” excuse. If we had waited until we could “afford” children we never would have had them.

I am VERY happy to hear about you and your wonderful family. I wholeheartedly agree that if you wait until “the right time” for children, you will likely not have them.
