I watched a special on TV decades ago that showed that Mary Jo was crouched up in what would have been the last remaining air pocket. I read an article recently that said the swimmer went back to the party he just came from that night and got his fricken lawyer !!!!!! They never even bothered to try!

Beyond horrible. Way.

What "political ambitions?" Old Kennedy will soon be facing judgement of another sort. No one lives forever here.

George Bush believes in doing everything "decently and in order". Now is the right time for letting the fur fly.

Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy punched back, calling the speech "a campaign-like attempt to rebuild his own credibility by tearing down those who seek the truth about the clear manipulation of intelligence."

WHAT A PUKE!

The speech was ok, but the rest of the "offensive" had better not consist solely of press releases. Who reads them except for pundits, FReepers and DUmmies, especially if the MSM decides not to cover it? And even when they do cover it, it would only be in the context of nasty Republicans trying to suppress dissent about the war. Since the main target of the defense has to be the people who don't normally pay attention to politics (since FReepers, by and large already know the truth and the DUmmies can't listen to reason even if it's sitting in their living room with dynamite strapped to its chest), they can't rely on the press to get the message out. The Administration needs to take a page out of Reagan's book, bypass the press and take it directly to the people. The offensive needs to occur every time an Administration is on a talk show, answers a question or gives a speech.

Senator Kennedy, driving drunk, crashes into a river with a woman passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy saves himself and leaves Ms. Kopechne to die. The accident was not reported until eight hours after the car had sunk to the bottom of the river (June, 1969) 'nuff said

Red, there's more.

Kennedy then turns to a life of liberalism thinking that he can redeem himself and clear his conscious by being a big-daddy government type to people in need.

But it doesn't work. His liberalism only leads to creating more people in need.

Unable to face this failure, the icon politician then turns to alcohol binging and food gorging and even more liberalism.

All destined to fail the now fat, aging pol should admit once and for all to himself that he dunked that poor girl in the Oldsmobile, that he should stop torturing the good people of this country and that he should just go away.

If America were to follow Senator Kennedy's foreign policy, Saddam Hussein would not only still be in power, he would be oppressing and occupying Kuwait.

Scott McClellan, White House Press Secretary

This is a good soundbites. Scott, if you keep doing this, you earn your current position!

Im pleased as well. A strong and forceful speech naming names. In addition, it went on at the end of the week news cycle so there are no heavy hitters to counter it. Just the usual boobs on Sunday morning like Hairplugs Biden and the rest of the Democrats who blame America First. Honest and reasonable americans will go into the holiday weekend hearing Bush's admonishment of Swimmer, et al..

And then, of course, there's Senator Edward Kennedy. And the folks at the Crawford Coffee Shop -- (laughter) -- would be somewhat shocked when I told them I actually like the fellow. (Laughter and applause.) He is a fabulous United States Senator.-- President George Bush, Jan. 8, 2002

I guess W has been reading all of these vanity posts over here at Free Republic. He's coming out smoking when he turns on the great Teddy.

Maybe McClellan has been lurking here too, and begging Dubya to let him redeem himself with the Freepers!!

Very nice, but can they keep it up? Or will they wilt at the first cry of "bad dog!" Wait and see.

We have been here before. The Democrats will now begin to cry about the incivility in Washington and say it is the President who is dividing the country.

They will say we need a leader who can bring the country together not one who will engage in petty politics, retribution, tit for tat.

The newspapers will do polls that show the American people are tired of the constant bickering and backbiting.
