BBC News ^ | November 9, 2005

Mixed response to toddler plans Toddlers are encouraged to be healthy, competent learners A proposed "national curriculum" for babies and toddlers in England has received a mixed response.

Under the Childcare Bill, childminders would teach the curriculum to children "from birth" - with some worrying that it might be too prescriptive.

The National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations called the proposals "bizarre".

My apologies if this has already been posted, I didn't find it in a search.

Bizarre at best. Hillary must be jealous that she didn't get this plan in place here during her 'co-presidency'. This seems to be socialist child ownership. Like they're saying, 'Go ahead, have that baby, then get back to work so we can raise it for you.'

No, no, no, no no. Parents are not equipped to handle the job. Childminders are teachers and those who work at pre-schools, etc. Remember, the government knows what's best for your children!

Actually, maybe childminders is a very descriptive term for alot of parents these days. Everywhere I go I see parents *minding* (as in obeying the whims of) their children!

Shh, we aren't supposed to notice the conflict of interest. Thank goodness folks are.

Very unethical, they want to make it legal. Yikes. It smacks of some Soviet state ownership plan.

Childminders - like some futuristic or horror movie subplot.

Sounds like you need some 're-education', courtesy of the state, since you've guessed their agenda. ;-) It's a very bold grab for the kids.

Yes! They must be good little citizens, members of the state, and comply. I can't see how this will fly with some of the Muslim immigrant population, who already live a duality, their own languages, schools and a desire for Sharia. Surely, it won't be pushed for some, and not others, will it?

So it's not good enough for the libs to have the brainwashing opportunities from kindergarten through collage, now they want to start a the earliest possible age! Man the libs are pushin' it!

Eh, its kind of a catch 22. I know of a few parents that could have used "child-minders." There are some really dumb people out there that have no business breeding.

Such a proposal just shows a few slipped through and weren't indoctrinated sufficiently.

"Childminders??!!!"

Childminder is just the English word for "babysitter". In the context of this article I take it to mean ANYONE who is caring for an infant, be it a nanny, grandma, whoever. It seems these "home care" givers would be under the force of law in terms of how they are rearing the kids.

This is all very bad. Europe seems to deteriorate daily. If the democrats ever gain wide power again in this country they will try all this stuff here. The fascists and communists may yet prevail world wide.

Yes, they are pushing it and they seem to be even bolder, perhaps emboldened by their successes, i.e. the gay agenda pushed on elementary school students.

Right! College republicans are still on campus, homeschooled kids winning spelling bees and parents like the dad in the Boston area are still trying to pull their young children from gay agenda classes, so clearly there's more work to be done and they can't wait to get started. They try to make sure that mom's, and dad's too, feel guilty by staying out of the workforce to do the 'demeaning' work of childrearing, oh, and surprise!, they've got a plan, they'll be happy to take over.

I didn't realise I could still be shocked. It's been a long time since I've read something and thought, "This just *can't* be real. This has to be the work of a tiny, sick minority. Surly, people won't let them get away with this."
