ha ha.

You WISH the President would stop talking. You, being anti-American, you'd rather see a symbolic gesture, sort of like the French waving white hankies. I've got your number.

A strong commitment to our troops is needed today. And our President did just that!

It's about time the MSM starts getting knocked around as well.

and you really think the msm bothers to air most of the Republicans.....especially the articulate responses to the dem lies? It's tough to get face time for our side with the msm pulling the rug out from under us all the time. It is easy to be an armchair critic, but Washington eats you alive and spits you out. That's the environment they are in.

When he goes on offense, the media will say he's on defense. Just watch the follow ups.

I'm amazed that Reagan was able to accomplish what he did against the MSM in an era before talk radio and the internet.

Frankly, I can't think of a better way to honor those who currently serve in our armed forces than to reassure them that we're doing everything in our power to peacefully utilize our own natural energy resources FIRST.

It would of been better to name names like CNNABCNBCCBS_NEWYORKTIMES. Instead he grouped them under the word critics.

If he reacts he's weak.
If he doesn't react he's weak.
He can't win with the MSM and the sooner he accepts that the better.

We all need to email the WH our support for this speech. Got a feeling the powers that be will be listening.

I'd love to see him to do that just to see their reaction.

"I don't understand the reluctance to take on the liars in Congress either. It's easy to do. Use their OWN words against them"

Next step is not to generalize, START naming names

It's easy for the president to get covered whenever he speak, especially during prime time.

I know all about the filter of the MSM; I detest them and it's what we combat the best on FR.

But when you own the House, Senate and White House - there's a way to do it. And it hasn't been done. Clearly. Until today. It needs to be done more often.

No, of course in January of last year it wouldn't have been considered campaign speech-making. However, I think there was some other stuff going on at that time...like the first Iraqi election (which one would have thought would have shut up the critics). Then there was the Inauguration, the State of the Union etc. I thought each of those speeches was quite good, despite Peggy Noonan's opinions.

I don't try to second-guess decisions, because I don't have all the information on why things are done the way they are. President Bush has given several good speeches over the summer, but this is the first time he has specifically addressed the liars in the democrat party. That is the big difference, and I can only conclude that they believe that this is the best time.

I know you aren't anti-Bush; it's just that when he finally hits back, it rubbed me the wrong way, I guess. Sorry I sounded so harsh...I didn't really mean to be so prickly.

I have said the same thing in the past. I would only be President one day after signing all the Executive Orders after taking the oath.

It is up to us. Rather than wasting time complaining about spineless RINOs (aka Soros-funded main streeters) just take one minute to give them a slap of reality- "we are watching you!". Then go about our business of being footsoldiers instead of spectators.

Then [Rove] should be fired. This speech is a repeat.

No he shouldn't, and no it's not.

very good speech.

If I were him, I would have done it in primetime and announced some new proposals etc. to try to get the groove back.

But, after watching a bit of CNN, I bet that would have made the press go after him even more with them saying "the fact that he has to try to distract people shows how far he is down" blah blah blah.

However, when his approval does start going up, and not just in Ras polls but the MSM ones, he will need to make some aggressive moves, perhaps a primetime speech (even before the SOTU) and some major policy proposals to get this train turned back to his agenda.
