A Demoralized FreeRepublic. What is the Solution? (Vanity)
Nov/10/05 | jveritas

The tone on FR is very demoralized. Liberals and their media unfortunately have succeeded in demoralizing a large number of freepers. From their constant savage attacks on the President and the Republican Party with lies and distortions, to their biased polls, to blaming the President for everything under the sun, many freepers are feeling very demoralized. They are further demoralized because President Bush is not fighting back, because the RINOS in Congress are screwing thing up for the President agenda. Add to that a huge numbers of trolls who infiltrated FR in 2004 and 2005 to divide and demoralize by creating doom and gloom, and piling on the President and the GOP.

So what are the solutions for the demoralization problem?

(1) Stop the knee jerk reaction every time the liberal media write an article telling us that President Bush and the GOP are finished. Stop taking every biased poll as the end of all. No doubt that the President approval is down but no doubt that the polls are so biased to take 6 or 7 points more from his approval numbers. Never before we have had so many polls coming in an off election year and the reason for this is very simple. The media is doing all these biased polls to demoralize the Republican base and it is succeeding to “some” degree as we see from the knee jerk reaction of many freepers. The media is taking any event that is happening and distort it with the most negative spin to demoralize us. Rather than falling for the media lies, distortions and very negative spin we must take anything they write or say turn it around on them and destroy all their lies and spin.

(2) Ask the White House to fight back the lies and distortions of liberal and their media whores. How do we do this? Demand replacing Scott Maclelan? Besides new junkies like us how many people listen to Scott Maclelan? Ask the President to hold a press conference every week to expose the lies liberals and their media? Do you want the President to spend his time fighting every lie and distortion made by liberals and their media? How can we guarantee that the media will cover what the President is saying or what any of his spoke people are saying? Can they just ignore what is he saying?

(3) Put pressure on the RINOS to stop screwing the President agenda. How do we do this? Ask the White to twist their arms? What if the RINOS say to the White House “Screw you”? Ask the GOP leadership in Congress to twist their arms? What if the RINOS also tell them “Screw you”?

(4) Purge the trolls who infiltrated FR in large numbers in 2004 and 2005. These trolls are not necessarily someone who spread Dummy crap on FR. They put on a phony conservative mask and bash the President and the GOP on every occasion. Their main goal is to divide and demoralize. Their job is to spread doom and gloom. Purging these guys can stop a lot of the infighting and the demoralization that is going on. We need to report these trolls to the mods and do not let them get away with this.

Anyone notice the bit Brit did about Andrea Mitchell, clarifying her previous remarks? That cheered me up.

But you're really picking out the least significant comment of my entire post. What about the rest of it?

I agree with some of what you said and disagree with other.

I agree that firing Card is a good thing, and replacing Mclellan with someone more aggressive press secretary will help. Now if the President decide to move the radio address to Wednesday at 11:00 AM instead of Saturday, will the media cover it? If the Bush administration decide not to fight an aggressive campaign against liberals and their media whores distortion, I will still defend them and fight for them. However soon enough we shall will see the White House counter offensive against liberals and their media.

I think this forum can turn into more politically active one by having more direct connection with the GOP leadership, the RNC, and the White House communication department. How can we do this, I do not know. We cannot do this by bashing the GOP day in and day out, we need to take care of our own. The GOP will not deal with us if you have 20% of the most vocal freepers attacking them and the President in the same fashion they do at DU, Daily KOS, and moveon.org

The RNC attacked Toomey viciously and now they are doing the same to Steve Laffey in his primary challenge to Lincoln Chafee. Chafee is openly hostile to the GOP and our agenda, and yet the RNC is wasting GOP donations on him against a real conservative.

We have no other choice but to create a conservative grassroots organization that bypasses the party powers. So long as the RNC spends money to trash people like Toomey and Laffey, we cannot give them our money.

Please donate only directly to the candidates that you support. Start with Steve Laffey for Senate.

I think FR should start by taking an active role in promoting and funding Steve Laffey.

I posted a press release from Laffey's website in the news section of FR. Not coincidentally now, I believe, that press release comes up as the very first result on a Google search for Steve Laffey now.

We should be doing more for people like him, and other conservatives who are taking on the worst RINOs in the House. This Google example shows not only how much of a difference we can make here in raising candidate awareness, but it also shows just how much people like Laffey need our help.

Free Republic does not raise funds for candidates. We are not organized to do so, and it would change the entire nature of FR if we were. No thank you. I'd just as soon not be under the thumb of the FEC or the IRS.

I think the RNC should spend zero dollars on Chaffey but can Laffey win Rhode Island? Do you know how liberal is Rhode island? As liberal as Massachusetts. If the Democrats will get an assured victory against Laffey than it is better to have Chaffey running against the Democrat candidate because even if he disagrees with 70% of our agenda it is still better than a liberal democrat who disagrees with 100% with our agenda.

Learn this: It is impossible to have a full pledge conservative Senator from New England. It is just impossible.

Ha!
Put down that crack pipe and step away from the keyboard!

Your incorrect supposition is so off in Left Field I must ask ... are you a agent provocateur?

Well, a sister organization could always be formed, or perhaps we could at least make a more concerted effort to endorse and direct people directly to the campaign information and donation areas of the worthiest and neediest candidates.

I of course don't think that FR should take an official position in presidential races or others where there is division among FReepers. I'm just talking about smaller cap races where we could make a difference against the most offensive RINOs.

Perhaps we could have something of a candidate clearing house, which links to suggested candidates that need and deserve greater exposure and funding?

That may be true, and believe me, I am as firm a believer in pragmatism as anyone. I supported Arnold in our recall here in California.

But there is something else that needs to be taken into consideration: there are true blue conservatives in the deepest blue of blue states, and they are the ones who vote in the Republican primaries. A strong run from a conservative primary challenger will at least force even the wobbliest of Republicans to move right in order to win re-nomination.

This is what I mainly have in mind. How else can the GOP leadership in the House get these big spending anti-ANWR RINOs in line and keep them in check?

The Republican party probably wish they could threaten these people's funding and nominations, but they can't. They exist as an apparatus to blindly support whoever the GOP standard-bearer is. So it is really up to us.

If you are saying that during the six to nine months leading to the primaries, we can put the pressure on a RINO to move to the right in particular in his or her vote in Congress, then I am with you on these tactics. Will it work though?

The solution is to get on the "rioting in Europe" threads and make fun of the French: that always cheers me up.

We all enjoy an excuse to break out the popcorn!

The only way to put pressure on them is to present and promote an alternative candidate to their right. This is exactly what I'm suggesting -- that we as a community use our leverage and internet resources to put this kind of pressure on RINOs so they are forced to defend their right flanks.

I've already been doing what I can to raise awareness of Laffey, but this latest coup from the House RINOs over ANWR and the budget cuts is the last straw. It should serve as a wake-up call to all of us. It's time we stop bitching and start doing something about it. This is my suggestion of how.

The more viable the candidate, and the greater their grassroot support, the more effective it will be as a tactic. If we make a serious concerted effort, it will work.

Bush is as conservative as can be elected in this Nation

So George Allen supporters should just give up and go with Rudy or McCain?
