With a GOP like this who needs the Dems? First they postpone making the tax cuts permanent, now this. I thought we decided being energy self-sufficient was a good thing. What's going on here?

The 8th paragraph says

More important, the Senate negotiators on a House-Senate conference committee will include Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) and Pete V. Domenici (R-N.M.), who have made it clear to House and Senate leaders they will not agree to any final measure that does not include Arctic drilling. One senior GOP aide in the Senate said Domenici and Stevens are willing to bottle up the budget package well into next year if the House does not relent on Arctic drilling.

This isn't over. Let's see what happens in the Senate today.

Actually you should flood charlie bass's(NH) office he is the RINO spearheading this and giving into the envirowhackos. 90% of the House GOP is for drilling.

But you would rather bash Hastert rather than the true roadblockers the enviorwhackos.

Soon they will be MINORITY idiots. Talk radio is trying to spin things to look like the Republicans are in relatively good shape, but another six months of this characteristically spineless behavior, and you can stick a fork in them!

To drop it is stupid! However, I think they are going to let it be on a bill by itself. That works for me. We shall see. I do not think Bush will let NOT drilling stand.

Well it seems you have personal experience being an idiot.

It is charlie bass(RINO-NH) who is giving into the envirowhackos. 90% of the House GOP supports drilling, but you would rather go knee jerk.

Made the mistake of listening to Err Amerika on XM in the car this morning. THey are celebrating the drop of the ANWR drilling provisions. Analysis has it that the GOPers up for re-election wanted it dropped in order to help their re-election chances. Seems this weeks elections have sent the message to the GOP that they are vulnerable and had better not push anything with controversy. It appears to me that we have a lame duck president and a lame duck congress. It just seems like the Republicans are paralyzed.

The GOP hasn't been the Party of Reagan for a long, long time.

When they go to the house/senate reconciliation meeting, the senate will insist that the drilling stays in the bill. The bill gets out of committee with the drilling in, and goes back to the house and senate for final vote. The house memebers will not vote against the final bill {they are pubbies and have the balls the size of sand fleas}.
