Plenty of people who are Conservative might use the same words, but Obama does not give them the same meanings.

He's just another pol from Chicago, a bribe in the left hand and a lie coming out the right side of his mouth.

Do not be fooled by these guys.

Obama is getting more face time on the tube than Chucky Schumer. Obama hasn't found a cause yet that he doesn't milk for all it's worth. Another Illinois politician exported to D.C. to continue his good works.

Too bad our panty-waist Republican pols don't have the guts to confront the Hollyweirdo's. The modern sitcoms are all trash anyway. Listen to talk radio while Freeping at the same time is food for the brain...and maybe soul too.

"Raising your children this way has become exceedingly difficult in a mass media culture that saturates our airwaves with a steady stream of sex, violence and materialism,"

As well as socialist indoctrination, something Obama left out. And whats wrong with materialism, anyway? Last I noticed, the country was doing just fine with a technologically oriented consumer economy, as well as most of the world in general

"The real motive is the Dems trying to set themselves up as the family values party with Obama as the mouthpiece."

Nail on the head! This along with the Dems cooing up to those concerned about the borders and even pro-lifers.

You all are jealous as we all should be that he has coopted a Republican Family Values issue. Pubbies are completely in a reactive state. Our Prez is not communicating he has gone AWOL in the communications department and is shutting himself off.

Moreover it is not enough to say I controlled what my children watched-what, are they forty now? thirty? Different story. We live in a public square and we have a right to insist that open sewers not exist. They cleaned up Times Square- a very public square and improved the quality of life. Obama is just calling for the same kind of policing: too bad a Pubbie didn't do it. It's a cesspool out there. I got rid of tv and am waiting to be able to program my own content; evidently the two Big Networks see that that will be the future (NBC;CBS) Meanwhile, we citizens fund the airwaves and we can expect that they not be so slimy. V's wife.

Ahhh, well, this parent of 5 rather agrees with him. We might argue about the methods, but the principle is right.

Poor comment on my part. I did not mean to suggest Lieberman made the Murphy Brown comment, I know that was Quayle. But Lieberman has been hammering Hollywood for years. And Hollywood does not like Lieberman.

"But Sen. Obama said he is particularly concerned about the impact television is having on the ability of parents to instill positive values in their children."

Well, maybe Liberal parents have a problem with monitoring their children's TV consumption, but Conservatives never seem to have that problem.

Dang! If those Liberal TVs only came with an "Off" button or some way to unplug them or even remove them from the home...

So, you want the government to decide what you should watch. How about the governemnt deciding what you should wear, or what you should read or what you can purchase? Let's not let the parents decide, they're too stupid.

If a Republican said this CBS,NBC and ABC would open their nightly newscast with the following:

"Extremist Republican Representative (or Senator)today called for and end to the freedom of speech and is push for government censorship. Story after this update on Paris Hilton's missing dog"
