At least 57 people were killed and more than 115 were wounded when suspected suicide bombers struck almost simultaneously at three hotels in the Jordanian capital of Amman late Wednesday. One of the hotels is known to be popular with Israeli tourists.

"There were three terrorist attacks on the Grand Hyatt, Radisson SAS and Days Inn hotels and it is believed that the blasts were suicide bombings," police spokesman Major Bashir al-Da'aja told The Associated Press. He declined to elaborate.

Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Muasher told CNN that at least 57 people were killed in the suicide bombings. Most of them were Jordanian, Muashar said.

I read in another article that todays date 11/9 in other parts of the world is read 9/11. Al qaeda is really into the symbolism.

Makes you wonder who is in charge of security. It is not so much of a leap to put 9/11-11/9 together and put out some extra security.

"When do we get the Bush pablum of "we are deeply saddened, this is ourtageous, we will fight...blather????"

So far: I

"I've just been apprised of them and we are watching the situation, but clearly this is a great tragedy," said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. "Again it shows that people will take innocent life without any remorse, and it just shows the very difficult war that we're fighting."

The White House offered its assistance in a statement: "Jordan is a close friend of the United States, and we will offer every possible form of cooperation in investigating these attacks and assisting in efforts to bring these terrorists to justice."

We just need to keep tracking them down and filling them full of lead. That's about the best security we've got going.

Oh yea, and seal the borders. Don't let any more like Atta and company slip in.

You are right about them being big on symbolism. It's for effect of course. Nonetheless, they hate our guts on a daily basis.

I have a symbol for them too. Imagine my middle finger extended.

Pray for our troops. God bless those brave patriots.

OMG...the same record...over and over. Did she really say that?

If my child was killed in a bombing I would personally take action. I want RETRIBUTION for the families of all killed.

This administration is slow and clueless.

Word was put out today (unfortunate don't have article at hand) from China that they suspect that the Five Star luxury hotels there in China will be hit by terrorist bombers next week and putting an alert out to all travelers. Was very surprised when I heard on news they hit Amman hotels (which might have been a contingency plan?)

afp via babelfish -

ne of the kamikaze spoke with an Iraqi accent

AMMAN - the kamikaze who exploded himself with the Hyatt hotel of Amman spoke with an Iraqi accent, according to the testimony of an employee of the hotel collected by the police force, indicated to AFP a sedentary source.

"an employee of the safety of the hotel spoke with an individual who appeared suspect to him and which answered with an Iraqi accent while saying I just come to throw a glance with the hotel", this source indicated.

A few minutes later it was exploded, it added.

The kamikaze appears clearly in a video taken by the safety video camera of the hotel and its identity should be proven, added this sedentary source.

The assessment of the three attacks of 57 was killed and 110 wounded with 02H20 local (00H20 GMT), according to an official statement Thursday morning of the Jordanian government.

Deaths are Jordaniens and foreign, the official statement indicates which does not specify the number or the nationality from abroad.

It's just a matter of hours before the DemoRats claim that the increased violence by terrorists is a result of President Bush's war against terrorism (in Iraq). Bin Laden is already working on Ted Kennedy's press release. Meanwhile, 90 nitwit U.S. Senators in early October voted to further protect terrorist prisoners from possible "abuse" while in prison. Next we'll have the Terrorist Protection Act of 2006, sponsored by McCain, and complete with provisions about "terrorist hate speech". The U.S. Congress needs to wake up and smell the fact that we are in a war for the survival of civilization. Maybe members of Congress need to go look first hadn at the bloody body parts generated by terrorists' bombs.

When do we get the Bush pablum of "we are deeply saddened, this is ourtageous, we will fight...blather????

He has to do the obligatory diplomatic stuff but this is an opportunity, I think.

He should hop on that bully pulpit --bringing it out of mothballs-- and say something like the war in Iraq is not about the 'manipulation of intelligence', but about killing those 'you know whats' so our own hotels aren't blown to bits. The rest is up to his speech writers but my main point is he should seize the opportunity, and now.
