BRUSSELS, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Vandals set fires in Belgium for a third straight night in what authorities called copycat violence patterned on the rioting in France.
Cars, trucks and at least two cellars were burned in Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent, Expatica reported Wednesday. Federal officials said Tuesday night's incidents were isolated, and cautioned against equating the violence in Belgium with the situation in France, where rioting has continued nearly two weeks.
Ghent Police Commissioner Steven de Smet said authorities would take the unrest seriously, but would not overreact. "But we must not panic either. For now, we cannot say there are indications of systemic violence," he said.
Two youths were arrested in Antwerp for an arson attack when they showed up a hospital for treatment of burns. The teenagers are Belgian citizens of immigrant background.
Expatica said they were believed to have been injured by their own firebomb.
Antwerp authorities imposed a policy of zero tolerance, promising even minor incidents will be prosecuted.
No reason to believe they were black. Now you're using too many words.
Small question. Just how does one burn a cellar?
Ok. Right here is where the good and normal muslims and people of Islamic faith should stand up and be counted.
If they keep turning a blind eye to the actions of a few then pretty soon all "H-ll" (don't know the rules for that word here) will come down on their heads.
I wondered when Belgium would join in the rioting. I think they are in the most trouble from any European country.
Over the past 10 years the countries from which the majority of immigrants came to Belgium were from Turkey Albania, Tunisia and Morocco; I couldn't find any data on skin color.
Even if they're from North Africa they may not be black.
Learn sumpin new ever day.
I believe north Africa is predominantly Arab. Look at the Egyptians or Mallomar Kaddaffy.
