Whatever his politics he always seemed like an all around good guy. And a WW2 Vet to boot.

He is one of the last living links to someone fairly prominant politically in the JFK era.

Isn't JFK's economist still alive ? It's a Scottish name.

Yes, that's the guy. And I believe he's still pretty lucid.

One would think he would have been promoted a few times after all these years.

I've always had great respect for both he and his wife, Eunice (the real Kennedy), for the establishment of the Special Olympics. In their case, I place politics aside and laud them for this great organization.

How he remained sane in that family is beyond me.

How he remained sane in that family is beyond me.

How he's remained unindicted is what amazes me.

Galbraith sailed Cape Horn with WF Buckley Jr and some pals in his late 70s.

He was JFK's close confidant and ambassador to India.

Born in Canada. His brother was prominant too.

Remarkable fellow....very tall.

Happy birthday, Sarg Shriver. The biography of him by Scott Stossel is a great read. Shriver is a good man, pro-life and a devout Catholic who attends mass daily. In his biography, Stossel tells that Shriver encouraged Maria to pay for her own travel and things while she dated Arnold and to always have her own money. I hear he's suffering from alzheimers. God bless him!

Being pro-life doesn't mean much when you vote for/campaign for/live and breath with pro choice democrat candidates.

Isn't he the guy, after McGovern dumped Eagleton as a VP candidate, went to a union rally, and went to the "bar" and asked for a scotch and soda, and all they had was keg of beer tapped.
