Hey, if we can get half of them passed (esp. 73-75), then I think that it's a victory for Arnold. I think he really needs one right about now. I may live on the other side of the country, but I think he's a bright spot for the GOP. Yes, he's more moderate than conservative, but I like a lot of what he's tried to do. Besides, it is California after all. You aren't going to get a conservative elected in a statewide race these days. Arnold's probably the best we can do, and I sure hope he wins re-election, although the odds seem against him at the moment.
I think Arnold would be a good VP candidate for 2008, should he lose re-election (the Consitution appears to me to only mandate that the President must be a citizen, not the VP, which until recently was not regarded as an important position)....

So, did Arnold personally endorse 73 and then decide to not campaign for its passage?

In my book, Arnie wins big time even if he loses. The libs had to spend 130 million dollars this year and that is 130 million less they will have in 2006.

the VP has to have the requirements as the President because he has to be able to assume the presidency.

I heard some repubs/conservatives didn't like the possibility of federal judges getting involved in the redistricting issues.

while voters like the idea of ending gerrymandering, who trusts judges? Unlike the current system that a no vote for 77 endorses, at least 77 requires voter approval of the redistricting plan.

75. It should cripple public union power in California. The unions blasted Arnold and they only succeeded in scuppering the spending cap. It doesn't say much for their fearsome reputation as political heavyweights in California politics.

Amazing that 73 is so controversial - 53-47? Gosh, a lot of Californians think their minor daughters shouldn't have to let their parents know if they are seeking abortions, but at the same time know that they need parental PERMISSION to go on a school trip or get a cavity filled.

I'm thinking 73-75 would be the only ones to get my yes vote.

EXACTLY.
And so far it's ahead. I hope it stays that way.

That means the Democrats keep their stranglehold on the State Legislature. Arnold's taken quite a beating but the lesson he draw from tonight is he's politically alive to fight another day. And like his namesake, he'll be back.

I ordinarily wouldn't like it, but it beats the liberal lifetime politicians in Sacramento carving up the state.
Everything in CA is a no-win most of the time.

Not sure about that (Arnold's specifice position on 73.) The mailer I received showed 74-77. Passing mention of 73 and 78, but an afterthought.
