Sad, but I really don't think these elections have the national implications that the dems. believe they do....I live in Illinois and nothing will be different tomorrow....
The candidate of the party in the White House has lost the VA gov. race for every election going back to Jimmy Carter. So yeah, the nat'l implications are probably small.
If the voters really were fed up with republicans and hated Bush they would toss Bloomberg out of liberal NYC. Bloomberg will win by 30 points. A huge embarassment for the dems.
I agree. If there are national implications it is extremely remote and not likely to be something on which a national campaign for the presidency could be built.
What was Virginia about....other than the 2 names?
BTW, wasn't it the democrats governorship to LOSE? To retain it, isn't any big deal with all the incumbent (party) protection acts in play these days.
Exactly. The party in the White House never wins the VA gov seat. Its been that way for a while. Warner (DEM) won in 2002. Yet...Republicans kicked butt in 2002 and in 2004. The governor elections don't mean squat this year...since Dems should have won them by landslides.
Can someone explain to me why the MSM writes that Dems replacing Dems is a referendum on Bush? Sounds more like a referendum on Dems.
