Just wait and see... this is a sign of things to come...
Even the L.A. Times came around on a couple of his reforms. When you can't get something passed proposed by a "moderate" Republica, supported by conservative legislators, right-wing talk radio and endorsed by liberal newspapers... your state is ****ed.
Unfortunately true.
Weeks ago, when polls started to show that the GOP could be in serious trouble in upcoming elections, the messengers who delivered that news were quickly ridiculed and skewered, but it had the ring of sad truth. Here's reality: Yes, the GOP always has to battle the absurdly unfair state of the major media. Yes, they get unfairly hammered for ridiculous things. But there's nothing new about that. It's the world in which Republicans have had to work for decades now.
The problem now is that it has become regrettably obvious that the GOP as it currently exists simply doesn't have the spine to govern. We control both houses of Congress and the White House, and the Democrats control the agenda almost as effectively as they did when they had numerical control. The GOP utterly refuses to fight to win, and they won't even fight to defend themselves. (See Trent Lott.)
The one thing that can make this whole thing worthwhile is SCOTUS. We desperately need the GOP to grow a spine for about five minutes and get Alito onto the bench through whatever necessary means, nuclear/constitutional option certainly included if need be. Then we cross our fingers and hope Roberts is really a good conservative like we hope. If we can swing SCOTUS, that's huge.

You mean we can expect Democrats to win seats held by Democrats and republicans to win seats held by Republicans?
THE PARTY IN THE WHITEHOUSE NEVER WINS THE VIRGINIA GOV. SEAT. THAT"S WHY WARNER WON IN 2002. YET...REPUBLICANS KICKED BUTT IN 2002 and 2004.
So sorry to destroy your rain cloud, but this does not give any type of indication of things to come.
