Hahaha, well that's a whole different subject!!
Sooo, do we agree if we don't have a common language, misunderstandings are prevalent? Shoot, we're both speaking the same language and were still able to misunderstand one another! A common language brings a common understanding. Exactly what is not happening in France, different cultures colliding. Let's not yet get into the culture thing and just agree that perhaps if they were able to communicate, none of this would be happening.
Of course we all need to speak English. I'm just saying it is beneficial to know more than one language and I think it would be a good idea to teach kids Spanish. I encouraged my kids to take it. One of my daughters had five years yet doesn't speak it very well, though she does understand a lot and can read some. It is difficult to learn a new language. And those who don't want to learn Spanish certainly don't have to. But I do love Cuban food - lol.
