CONTROVERSIAL Melbourne cleric Sheikh Mohammed Omran has expressed concern 17 men arrested for allegedly planning to carry out terror attacks are being publicly vilified.
Sheikh Omran stated his alarm and unease over the arrests in a statement posted on the website of the Islamic organisation he heads. "The Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah Association of Australia considers the security of our nation with high priority," he said.
"We hope all those accused receive a fair trial and the presumption of innocence is preserved.
"We have concerns over the discrepancy between public allegations and actual charges laid in court."
"In these uncertain and testing times, we urge all Muslims to remain patient and hopeful. We urge all Australians to hold onto our values, the all Australian fair go for all, and remain tolerant."
Sheikh Omran has controversially stated there was no proof Osama bin Laden was responsible for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States.
He was left out of a summit Prime Minister John Howard held on terrorism with other Islamic leaders from across Australia earlier this year.
Everyone knows it was the Jews. Right Sheikh, you puke!
Does he mean Australia or the ummah? I can't really tell.
For a good Muslim, the ummah must come first.
It's not vilification he should be worried about... it's ventilation.
In other news, Beelzebub protested the "demonization" of devils in the media.
Are you "pack your bags" worried yet? Reep what you sow, pirate. Reep what you sow.
"In these uncertain and testing times, we urge all Muslims to remain patient and hopeful."
I believe that he should have changed the word 'Muslims', to 'Australians', for is it not the Australians themselves who should be getting sick and tired of this garbage? I can guarantee you that the vast majority of Muslims who live in Australia, do not consider themselves to be Australians or subject to Australian law.
There are so many Muslim psychos who half believe the lies and BS they gleefully spread around. Islam thrives on nasty rumors and lies.
Being publicly vilified really isn't a good way to handle terrorists. Being publicly hanged would be better.
What's this "presumption of innocence" b.s.? Where in the Koran does it say there should be a presumpton of innocence? Is this correct under Sharia law?

Dear Sheikh,
Let's avoid all the 'vilification' and just skip directly to EXECUTION. If we would get serious about fighting terrorists we would not be keeping the vermin alive for years and years and even releasing many of them.
Sincerely,
Joe Q. Public
Sounds like a thinly veiled threat (or should I have said a thinly burka'd threat) to me. I have a better idea. How about saying "I urge all Muslims to strongly condemn such atrocities against humanity." And "We will not tolerate such outrages to be done in the name of allah." And perhaps this "These barbarians defile all our religion stands for."
That might have shown a true religion of peace. But that's not what you hear. You get a threat: "We're watching so don't ef with our boys or we will ef you up."
Just so you know, Australia is being tested to see if you're weak like the French. Or like American Demonrats.
The terrorists who plotted these crimes have done more to villify Islam and Muslims than the Australian government or press. The cleric should take up his complaints with the terrorists.
