Principal Gary Seale was wounded but managed to tackle the student and taken into custody. This man is a hero. If he hadn't done this, it's likely the student doing the shooting would have killed other students.

We'll know if the press refers to the student as a pirate. ..or an 'angry youth'.

In addition to the SF handgun ban vote, there is a bill in the Congress called something like the D.C. Personal Protection Act that loosens handgun controls in Wash. D. C.

...the school remains locked down this afternoon. Why? So ATF can loot the donuts unimpeded? The kid is busted.
You lock down a crime scene as SOP. Make sure all injured are identified and taken care of, ensure there are no accomplices and secure the scene for evidence.
Of course real cops will do that and not the ATF.

That's some brave principal.
I wonder what the shooter's motive was.

..The faculty and administrative staff will do our best to make these four years as safe and enjoyable as possible. We are here to help you learn, achieve, and make decisions that will affect you throughout life...A statement from the Principal on their web site. Seems as though he did take this seriously. My respect to the man for stopping a deadly situation at risk of further injury to himself.

I would not describe Campbell County either "isolated" or "very poor". Interstate 75 runs through it and it has several resort developments. It is rural in nature.

One dead, may he RIP. God bless the others who were shot.

Schools have been locked down regularly since the Drug War went turbo in the 1980s states started banning teachers from conceal carry in the early 80's.I still remember catching a glimpse of my math teacher's ankle holster every so often, before the bans.

Reports coming in of a male student having shot 3 faculty members with a rifle.
The student walked into a commons area of the school around 2:00 p.m. hiding a hand gun under a napkin,Musta been a really small rifle!
I sure wish folks would get their stories straight! Prayers up for the people who were shot.

How horrible! The victims' family and friends, the staff and students in the school, and the entire community need our urgent prayer.
I just can't understand why conservatives won't outlaw firearms? (sarc)
Maybe if the principle had one this would have ended a lot sooner.
Tragic.

pirates...or angry youth...
or unemployed, uneducated, downtrodden, oppressed, disaffected, blah, blah, blah...
The media here and now isn't any different than the Ministry of Truth was there and then in the Soviet Union.
