In my travels in France, I have found that there is ALOT of racism in the country, much moreso than in the U.S., but I would assume less than say, Eastern Europe. It cuts both ways, unfortunately.

A key problem is that the French see someone "of color" as not "truly French" even if they are third generation. They are also rather "open" about their hatred of certain groups. As far as "les Beurs" are concerned, their "cultural Islamism" (even if they don't go to mosque) and parochial attitudes have bred a resentment toward the white majority.

Thus the evil nativist/racist nature of Socialism rears its ugly head. Just as the U.S. Department of Agriculture gave an unfair advantage for government subsidies to white farmers and drove black farmers almost entirely out of the business. If your in charge of just GIVING things away, you may as well give them to someone who looks/speaks/acts/believes just like you. Now when you are SELLING things, you don't care about the color of their skin, just the color of their money.
