Hold on a second while I reconsider the Bush Doctrine.

de dee hmmm ..... binga binga doo la..... de da da ....... hmmmmm.

Yep. It's the correct strategy, with the only caveat being we maybe should ramp up the pressure (military and political) against various Muslim despot leaders and dictators who continue to use back door methods to fight Western values, Israel, America, and modernity in general.

Damning with faint praise, methinks.

Coalitions are obviously not worth the headache; France, Russia, and Germany sell out freedom and democracy every time.

Also, tell the Iraqis and Afghans that they should aspire to a lower form of democracy...

This article is pretentious and arm-chair quarterbacking. Sometimes a US President has to go it alone, global tests be damned.

There is plenty of evidence that Saddam had WMDs, and/or was building them. Also that he had clear terrorist ties. In W's place, I would have done the same thing, except MUCH sooner. Colin Powell and the CIA undercut Bush for their own benefit in their pro-UN lunacy.

"We can lose in the cultural theater if our fighting spirit gives way to feckless appeasement"

We can lose if we go off on tangents with diversions and don't pursue the moneyed interests- bankers and financiers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (which is not a Democracy) who have funded Al Qaeda to the tune of $500 Million Dollars U.S. during the past ten years and who in fact, financed the 9/11/2001 terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

We can lose if we do not go after Saudi Arabia, the incubator of Terrorism.

The extreme alternative hypothesis is that the Iraq invasion was a "flypaper strategy" that attracted existing militants from elsewhere.

No that is NOT an "Extreme" alternative that is EXACTLY one of the reasons for Iraq. Maybe people like this author should refrain from commenting on issues they clearly know NOTHING about. Stick to Econ, Arnold, Military Strategy is clearly far beyond your mental capabilities.

I am sorry the pseudo intellectuals like this author cannot put aside their fake "wisdom". They seem to think they achieve "wisdom" being equally critical of all sides. It would be refreshing if JUST ONE TIME the pseudo intellectuals actually DEFEND the truth rather then engage in this phony "objectivity". Giving equal weight to falsehoods is NOT intellectual courage.

VERY Interesting!

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately  on  my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.
