All this armchair bravado amuses me. You think that if the USA had riots like France, that you could just sit on your front porch with a rifle and hold them at bay? You've watched too many westerns. In real life, this will result in a mob torching your house and torturing/killing your family and I don't care how many bullets you have stockpiled. They won't be enough. Let's hope that it doesn't come down to shooting looters in our backyard. For if it comes to that, all is lost.

You sir, are not a student of history. During the Rodney King riots the only shopkeepers to save their businesses were the Vietnamese with M-16's locked and loaded. Rioters are basically chickenshit herd animals no different than stampeding cattle. You shoot the lead bull, and they move on to easier pickin's. I clearly remember the scene of Vietnamese standing together to protect property and lives. Cops wouldn't even go into the "hood", but neighbors banned together in armed militia stopped that crap. The exact same scenario played out in small towns all over the Katrina disaster area. Do you know why you only saw looting in Nawlins? They don't call Louisiana the sportsman's paradise for nothing. EVERYONE HAS GUNS. In Poplarville Miss. the citizens organized armed neighborhood watches and lost no homes to the looters. They did move into town, but went around after shotgun blasts across the open field said "Looters Not Welcome".
