I think you underestimate the psychological shock that a person receives when he or she sees the effects of a .223 bullet or two ripping through a nearby individual. An untrained, undisciplined person is going to cut and run, not ignore what happened just feet away from him.

In a way, both of you are right, but if there were large scale riots, homeowners would HAVE to band together to succeed. In that respect, owning ENOUGH guns collectively within a neighborhood is KEY.
