Iowa Reaction To Daschle's Appearance
Former Senator Tom Daschle hasn't ruled out a run for the White House in 2008, and this weekend he gave a key speech in an important state.
Daschle was the featured speaker at an event for Iowa democrats, the state whose caucuses kick off the presidential campaign.
Former Senator Tom Daschle told Iowa democrats the Bush presidency is effectively over, and it's time for his party to take back the country. If Daschle decides to run for president himself, he'll make many more trips to Iowa, and democrats there say so far he's been well received.
If a politician spends much time in Iowa, the speculation usually points toward a presidential campaign. Lt. Gov. Sally Pederson says, "I think here in Iowa we're always excited to see leaders out of the democratic party come in, talk about their agenda, talk about their values and we're always looking them over."
But Iowa Democratic party chair Sally Pederson stopped short of predicting how former Senator Tom Daschle would fare in her state.
Pederson says, "I think it's early on. I know Senator Daschle, have the highest regard for him, a man of incredible integrity and we're delighted to have him here."
She says any politician who wants to succeed in the Iowa caucuses has to spend a lot of time in the state, directly targeting voters. Pederson says, "They have to know the candidate, meet them and understand what they stand for."
It's a setting not that different from South Dakota campaigning, which Pederson says could be beneficial should Daschle decide to make a run for the White House.
She says, "I think Senator Daschle does very well here in Iowa because he is a midwesterner, he understands the midwest, I think he's very comfortable with us and I think people here are very comfortable with him."

I'd almost bet Algore could find them for Hillary. He's a websurfin' fool!
Many were overheard saying, "I thought he was a lot taller than that."
She obviously doesn't know little Tommy - in South Dakota we do and that is why he is no longer obstructing the federal government. But I can see why he would think about making a run for the White House - it seems that obstructionism is the only thing Democrats are interested in. He is the perfect man for the job.
Oh yes, he'll be forceful won't he? He'll just be saddened, frustrated, disappointed yada, yada, yada.
Yep, it's incredible for anybody to think that he has any integrity.
I was surfing for a good movie, and saw the little twerp on H&C. The little sh'ite never knows when to give up.
Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson is a native of Vinton, Iowa, and a graduate of Iowa State University. She is a former executive at Meredith Corporation in Des Moines, where she was the senior food editor for Better Homes and Gardens. She was elected Lt. Governor in 1998, and re-elected to a second four-year term in 2002.
Lt. Governor Pederson served throughout her first term on the Executive Committee of the National Lieutenant Governors Association and is the current Chair of the National Democratic Lt. Governors Association.

Iowa Democrats look forward to hearing out JJ Dinner special guest Tom Daschle talk about the exciting path Democrats are charting to take back America.
While the Republicans may be imploding, Democrats understand that the way we win is to show voters our vision for a better state and nation.

Ha,ha,ha, thanks for the laugh!
Uh oh for what I'm thinking..... Other than that he'd be among the missing after his first night with the former First Lady who, the next day, would would appear pregnant.
Daschle's level of delusion is deeply troubling. I am saddened and concerned for him.
Not as over as his run as 'Rat Senate Leader.
it's time for his party to take back the country.
The first primary is over two years away. No, it isn't time, Tommy.
Tommy is just another 'Rat loser like Carter, Mondull, Dukakis, Foley, and Kerry. Only in the pathetic 'Rat Party would a loser like him avoid being laughed out of town for thinking he could win the nomination, much less become President.
please please please run mr daschle. run run run. run like the wind. please? it will make for such an entertaining year in '08.
I'd love to see Forest Gump's double run for Prez.......
sometimes you gotta wonder of some of these 'dems' are really repubs with a great sense of humor sabatoging the dem party.
they don't know reality when it smacks them in the face... which makes for some fun times for those of us living in reality.
Daschle sucks.
My respect for Mr. Rove's work grows every day.
Iowa is a great place.
Sometimes a bit slow on the uptake, but a great place.
Yes, I have spent some time there. From day one until year 19.
