Paris Burning: How Empires End
Human Events Online ^ | 11/7/05 | Patrick J. Buchanan

The Romans conquered the barbarians—and the barbarians conquered Rome.

So it goes with empires. And comes now the penultimate chapter in the history of the empires of the West.

This is the larger meaning of the ritual murder of Theo Van Gogh in Holland, the subway bombings in London, the train bombings in Madrid, the Paris riots spreading across France. The perpetrators of these crimes in the capitals of Europe are the children of immigrants who were once the colonial subjects of the European empires.

At this writing, the riots are entering their 12th night and have spread to Rouen, Lille, Marseille, Toulouse, Dijon, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Cannes, Nice. Thousands of cars and buses have been torched and several nursery schools fire-bombed. One fleeing and terrified woman was doused with gasoline and set ablaze.

The rioters are of Arab and African descent, and Muslim. While almost all are French citizens, they are not part of the French people. For never have they been assimilated into French culture or society. And some wish to remain who and what they are. They live in France but are not French.

The rampage began October 27 when two Arab youths, fleeing what they mistakenly thought was a police pursuit, leapt onto power lines and were electrocuted. The two deaths ignited the riots.

I just came back from my first camping trip with my 6 year old son.

It was fun to see him instinctively put sticks in the fire and watch them burn, just like the picture portrays.

In a lineup, can Arabic infiltrators be identified by visual clues alone from Mexican infiltrators? Dress an Arab in typical Mexican street clothes, and short of listening to their speech, it would be difficult to distinguish their nationality.

We may already have a good-sized column within our borders. The Mexicans might know immediately who the imposters were, but us gringos fail to recognize the subtle differences. And we cannot depend on persons who are themselves here without satisfactory documentation, to point out to the authorities, others whose objective is much more sinister.

And really good Arabic agents may have a near-flawless Mexican Spanish accent. Spanish and Arabic do have a number of similarities, it would be like a Nazi German speaking very good American English in 1944.

Paris is 8% Muslim.

Much lower statistic among the millions in France outside of Paris.

Not so many Muslims numerically. They could be silenced easily if the right moves were taken.

I've read enough! Pat sounds like Nikolai Lenin in talking about colonialism and empire.

Pat will not take the trouble to understand the Muslims because he's having to much fun bashing the Jews and watching them get bashed by the Muslims.

It's sort of like the same mistake Hitler made in WWII when he put priority to shuttling Jews to their death via trains instead of using the transportation to resupply the German army.

>>>>>>>Agreed. There may be a threat to a cohesive American culture, but at least it's not a threat to our very liberty.

We don't know that yet. As John Derbyshire pointed out today at National Review, no one would have guessed 30 years ago that the sons of the diffident and respectful Muslim immigrants he worked with would turn into the rioters of Birmingham.

There is no reason for America to be taking the risk represented by continued mass immigration.

"The Serbs where right."

Yes. You're right, but we're probably going to get a lot of flack over this remark. That makes it no less true though.

Will America have to save the day again?

America is also descending into third world status. Every time somebody decides to be a squatter on land, starts a business without registration, marks a section of LA, or grabs a music file for free, the descent is augmented.

If a farsighted Frenchman had warned of the dangers to his country of Islamic immigration 30 years ago, he would have been met with the same type of "argument" you use. Pat Buchanan is exactly right.

B.S. There is no credible evidence supporting Patsy's claims that (a) 100 million hispanics will reside in the U.S. and (b) more than half currently believe the Southwest U.S. should be part of Mexico. Most hispanics assimilate within 2-3 generations...many Lopez, Gomez, Garcia, etc. don't even speak Spanish. The fringe La Raza lunatics have the territorial views that Buchanan is placing on the majority of hispanics.

Since his childhood, Buchanan's hero has been Father Charles Coughlin. If you understand Coughlin, you'll understand Buchanan. Buchanan is a racist. Always has been. Always will be.

The solution is quite simple. Arrest, convict then deport those that have broken the law. No exceptions. Want a cushy life in the west then live by the rules. The big question here is who is trying to assimilate who?
