Unfortunately the worst offender, the NYT, has an increased circulation according to this list.

The SLIMES is comfort food for liberals nationwide.

After the election in 2004, liberals who have infested places across the U.S. took advantage of deals for the SLIMES.

They know everyone in the country knows they work for the DNC and to undermine Bush with every word. They're not worried about it, they arrogantly know their loyal moonbats and the elite aristocrats will read their claptrap. Anyone who believes the NY Times is "dumber than a bag of hammers."

Circulation does not tell the story. Advertising revenue tells the story and craigslist.com is KILLING them all. 50ish% of all newspaper revenue is classified ads. craigslist.com is free.

The Craig guy has been called the most powerful man in the newspaper business, and he's not in the newspaper business.

He is a liberal too, and it destroying these liberal newspapers. Their budgets are collapsing and so are reporter salaries.

What's to say the SLIMES hasn't fudged those numbers like they fudge, or publish wishfull thinking polls?

Unfortunately the worst offender, the NYT, has an increased circulation according to this list.

That's probably due to the massive amount of marketing they are targeting on people who live outside NYC. I'd like to see how their circulation numbers in NYC compare to previous years. The increase of 0.46% corresponds to just 5,200 more copies sold than last year. That's really poor performance considering the nation wide advertising blitz especially on cable TV. If they kept all their sales in NYC, I can't see their nationwide marketing campaign as being worthwhile.

NYT increased by a whopping 0.46 percent. If they keep that up they'll be able to double their circulation by the year 2100.

these are circulation figures which include FREE
newspapers . The NY Times has started giving away free copies to hotels and airport frequent flier lounges.
Its a phoney PR trick used by USToday ( ala Left Wing Today) to falsely claim circulation is UP !!

I understand that the circulation numbers for the NY Times are under investigation for being inflated. I've read that the discrepancy is counting papers distributed cheaply and in bulk to hotels and such are being counted as if they were individual, paid subscriptions.

So, the slight uptick in that paper's circulation may actually be as honest as the average column by Krugman, Rich, or Dowd. LOL.

Latest column: "Reddy Finney, Joe Enge, and the US Constitution"

I don't believe the NY Times' numbers for a second. There's no way they are up when everyone else is down - either it's an outright lie or an accounting trick.

I'd wager they "do it" like the Tulsa World does it...

At least they tell their advertiser's that they have certain # circulation...but give away ton's of their DemoSocialistMarxistLefistLiberal not fit for fishwrap papers.

IOW, non-paying customer's get added to their circulation numbers.

I don't know how most papers account for their numbers, but when I moved into my home, the nyt sent to me a free subscription. I repeatedly declined their offer but to this day, I still get their paper at my door. So perhaps they count me as one of their new subscribers.

It's a sure thing that that increase of the NYT is not in the NY metro area.

I wonder how much of that is compted.

The medical complex building where my PT has an office, last month every office got compted with a free subscription to the Slimes.

He said that he hasn't paid for a copy of the San Francisco Gay Rhonicle for years. Also, he gets every so called weekly news mag free and has for over a decade.
