GOUGE AWAY: Bush prioritizes oil above preservation of wildlife, environment
The Ball State Daily News ^ | November 07, 2005 | Jonathan Titchenal

Posted on 11/07/2005 9:08:00 AM PST by GreenFreeper

President George W. Bush wants to kill the last wildlife sanctuary in the United States. He is more than happy to sink his claws into it, tear it apart and plunder it for his own uses.

Environment? What environment? If it’s got oil, it’s ours. Who cares about some stupid animals?

According to a Nov. 4 article on CNN.com, the Senate on Thursday approved a measure that would compel the Department of the Interior “to begin selling oil leases for the coastal plain of the Alaska refuge within two years.”

Yes, you heard correctly. The refuge. The place where we were once trying to keep those other living creatures that make up Earth’s ecosystem safe and alive. Now, apparently, the Bush administration is more interested in the estimated 10 billion barrels of oil lying beneath those serene lands.

Opening the wildlife refuge — a place set aside some 44 years ago specifically for protection — has been among George “What’s Global Warming?” Bush’s top energy plans for years.

The product of a liberal education. What a shame!

Jonathan Titchenal is a senior psychology major and writes ‘Gouge Away’ for the Daily News. His views do not necessarily agree with those of the newspaper.

Same was said about the trans-Alaskan oil pipeline.

In fact it was boon to wild life who found a warm place to gather in bad weather.

Someone needs to tell this little hippy that he is about 38 years too late with his passe look. Maybe he can grow out the scraggly beard and join Al Qaida.

"He is more than happy to sink his claws into it, tear it apart and plunder it for his own uses."

A typical leftist position. There's no such thing as a middle ground. The refuge is either devoid of any human influence, or it's torn apart and plundered. They use this same argument against nuclear power. Any nuke is a bad nuke, no matter what. It's this type of leftist thought that prevents many problems from being addressed in the first place.

I guess Pimple Boy hasn't seen any of those pictures of caribou huddling up close to North Slope pipelines in the dead of winter.
