Release of Cisneros Report Ordered

Bloomberg News
Tuesday, October 25, 2005; Page A11

A federal appeals court ordered the release of a final report yesterday in a decade-long investigation of former Housing and Urban Development secretary Henry G. Cisneros.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit said in an order that the time has come for independent counsel David M. Barrett to end the inquiry, which has cost more than $21 million, government records show.

Cisneros, now chief executive of American CityVista, pleaded guilty in 1999 to lying to the FBI about money he gave to a former mistress. He paid a $10,000 fine and was later pardoned by President Bill Clinton. The probe continued as Barrett sought to determine whether anyone in the Clinton administration obstructed his investigation of Cisneros. No further charges were brought.

"The substantive duties of the independent counsel are complete," Judge David B. Sentelle said in the order. "The court orders that the independent counsel, with all deliberate speed, prepare . . . and release the now pending final report."

The appeals court stayed its order for 10 days to allow any party to seek a stay from the Supreme Court.

So .. are you saying it hasn't actually been released yet .. and if so .. when has that stopped the NYT from getting the info.

But .. that wouldn't account for the fact that Tony Snow was able to get some of the bad info from the report - which explains why the dems tried to keep the report from being released .. and then Hillary's lawyers kept filing challenges trying to keep it from release.

I'd say it has some bad stuff in it.

Tony Snow said it was brutal to democrats.

If it is, there goes their "culture of corruption" propaganda, and that's all they had left. Without that, they have nothing for 2006, and they'd be in pretty bad shape for 2008.
I hope to see democrat weeping and gnashing of teeth over this myself (I'm an optimist). If we can do them in for good, the country would be a lot better off because of it.

This is what I get when I hit the link:

What does this have to do with Cisneros?

JERSEY GOVERNOR RACE TURNS UGLY: CHARGES OF ABORTION, AFFAIRS DRIVE LAST DAYS
Sat Nov 05 2005 11:06:43 ET

New Jersey Public Radio & Television aired a report Friday night in which New Jersey Democratic Candidate for Governor Jon Corzine was grilled about whether a staffer he allegedly had an affair with -- had an abortion.

NJN News’ Michael Aron reported Friday: “The press is interested right now in personal conduct. Corzine was asked about a persistent rumor that he had an affair with a staffer whom the reporter identified by name.”

Sen. Jon Corzine: “A, not true. B, I’m not going to comment on the kind of, I think, low, guttural politics that’s going on over and over in this state, and I think the ad that was talked about was just symptomatic of that.”

NJN’s Michael Aron: “He was asked about a rumor that the same staffer had an abortion in Ohio. “ Reporter: “Can you respond to those rumors that are circulating?”

Corzine: “Trash.”

Saturday's edition of THE NEW YORK TIMES reported the incident but ignored the specifics: “But Mr. Corzine did deny a new allegation raised by reporters yesterday regarding another woman.”

TIMES reporter David Kocieniewski has been investigating the claims, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"He had the details. He's sat on the details," says a source.

Meanwhile, sex charges have been leveled at Corzine's republican challenger, Doug Forrester.

At an appearance in Woodbridge, Forrester denied that he had an extramarital affair, which was reported in a NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, which attributed the allegation to an e-mail it had received. "These are false accusations. It is wrong. It is despicable. It is the example of the kind of campaign that Jon Corzine has been running from the beginning," he said.

A final debate is set for tonight at 7.

New Jersey voters head to the polls on Tuesday.

Developing...

Then whatever happened to the Cisneros Report? That was due a long time ago.

Crap. I'd like to see something bigger than just a Jersey democrat get nailed (but I'll take it anyway).

IMO, this poster was trying to use this article via Drudge to prove that the NYT isn't biased.

I checked the sign up date, looked at the post and noticed there was not further information.

Just gut instinct.

Last I heard Dems were trying to block the release of the report.

They got D's, so they are immune from scandal apparently

Dems were "trying to block it". However, the head of the Judiciary Committee stopped all that and the report was released. However, there is a short delay in order to allow anyone within the report to file an appeal.

I know Tony Snow is hot on this - so I keep checking his website for any news.

"New Jersey Public Radio & Television aired a report Friday night"

Okay - so NJ aired a report - then why does Drudge say somebody from the NYT is "sitting on" something bad ..??

And .. if the "projection technique" is any guide .. the Cisneros report is exactly why the "culture of corruption" mantra was put out there.

It's so they can say, everybody does it.
