Washington, D.C.
After many, many months of being a punching bag, the punching bag is ready to fight back. Republicans believe it is long overdue.
On FOX NEWS SUNDAY this morning, Brit Hume reported that he was told at the highest levels that the White House was finally going to engage the Democrats. They will be coming out with a defense of the war in Iraq.
On this forum and around the blogosphere, Republican loyalists have been wondering why the President has allowed the Democrats to get away with calling him a liar. There is a wealth of evidence justifying the war, including 500 tons of yellowcake uranium discovered in Iraq in March of 2003 at the nuclear research center of Al-Tuwaitha. 1.8 tons was enriched. That is not Betty Crocker yellow cake. Hussein wanted a bomb. And yet, a majority of our population does not even know about that find.
The Democrats are doing exactly what they said they would do in their secret memo that was captured by a Republican staffer. They are using the war for political purposes, while they are pretending it is not for political purposes.
If the President will light a fire under his team, support for the war will increase, perhaps dramatically. The President owes it to the troops who have sacrificed and to those who are still out there risking their lives everyday. Step up, Mr. President.
I just hope he can find some folks that name themselves republican in our congress that will know how to fight as well.
These men and women in Congress are pathetic...words won't come of how I really feel about them. I also hope Frist has received his wakeup call. With the stunt from "Dingy" Harry will help them to see the backroom deals are over.
"What Bush needs is someone like Zell Miller running communications."
Or perhaps General Honore? I'd love to hear someone tell the press they are "stuck on stupid" just a few more times.
It's easy to do.
Don't beat yourself up for it. It was just my job today to pull ya back from the edge. I hope you'll be there in the future when I need it, LOL.
We turned a corner this week. There is always something to look forward to with this White House.
Not only that .. I believe the emails and RNC surveys (like the ones I filled out) are beginning to be felt in the beltway. We're mad and we're finally getting our point across.
I'm so jazzed to hear this.
It helps if you take your blinders off.
I think W does. He's tried to play nice .. but they have forced his hand.
I'm a former New Yorker - and your comment is dumb!
No problem. Actually, what you addressed was not anything I said, but what was written on Powerline. ;o)
"Relvelation"? Is that akin to 'strategery'?
Good points Peach! Keep saying them.
"Holding ground never wins the political battle. Offense, offense, offense."
I agree. This is much better! :)

Well .. I guess you didn't hear Pat Roberts' statement about this whole thing. He told Brit Hume that he was going to release all the statements he had from senate intel dems - exposing them.
That doesn't sound like a cave to me. Also, Roberts said that the meeting was already scheduled - but the dems had been stalling and stalling - because the dems are not happy because their investigation has not implicated Bush and they wanted to keep digging to find something.
Roberts also said that he took the post 9/11 statements about the war and removed all the names from the statements - wanting the dems to vote on the validity of the statements without knowing who made them. The dems balked and said they wouldn't consider doing that - and we know why - because they would be exposed for what they said at the time - and what they're saying now.
Frist may be sounding like he's caving - but the meeting was already scheduled.
I must assume your comment in #145 is humor. No one could possibly believe that the White House would pay any attention at all to what Bill Kristol says.
Thanks for the ping and for the excellent summary of events.
I have ping some of our indexers and followers of this travesty.
Brit Hume should be the Whitehouse spokesman, instead of Scott McClellan. What a daily treat that would be.
You know what I would be interested in finding out? I would like to know if Porter Goss has armed security at his home. I bet he does.
Thanks for the ping Grampa Dave.
Bump! Read later.
LOL and 'yes!'
