Washington, D.C.
After many, many months of being a punching bag, the punching bag is ready to fight back. Republicans believe it is long overdue.
On FOX NEWS SUNDAY this morning, Brit Hume reported that he was told at the highest levels that the White House was finally going to engage the Democrats. They will be coming out with a defense of the war in Iraq.
On this forum and around the blogosphere, Republican loyalists have been wondering why the President has allowed the Democrats to get away with calling him a liar. There is a wealth of evidence justifying the war, including 500 tons of yellowcake uranium discovered in Iraq in March of 2003 at the nuclear research center of Al-Tuwaitha. 1.8 tons was enriched. That is not Betty Crocker yellow cake. Hussein wanted a bomb. And yet, a majority of our population does not even know about that find.
The Democrats are doing exactly what they said they would do in their secret memo that was captured by a Republican staffer. They are using the war for political purposes, while they are pretending it is not for political purposes.
If the President will light a fire under his team, support for the war will increase, perhaps dramatically. The President owes it to the troops who have sacrificed and to those who are still out there risking their lives everyday. Step up, Mr. President.
Maybe it's the old poker player in him holding his cards close to his vst until now. I hope so! I remember this.............

One final note on George W. Bushs management style and his Harvard Business School background does not derive from the classroom, per se. One feature of life there is that a subculture of poker players exists. Poker is a natural fit with the inclinations, talents, and skills of many future entrepreneurs. A close reading of the odds, combined with the ability to out-psych the opposition, leads to capital accumulation in many fields, aside from the poker table.
By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bushs political career. He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, at least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically.
Judge Wapner? Oh... Wepner. Chuck.
Well, we shall see, but it looks to me like the rats are punching themselves out. They have spent themselves futilely and way too soon - - it's a year until the next election, and that is a political eternity. (And you forgot to mention Tex Cobb.)
What exactly does, "I'm a Unite'er not a Divide'er" mean anyways..
Hope Brit don't have Congressional Joy Juice in his Kool-Aid.. stirred two times to the right.. Times a'waistin..
Get on it Dubya.. lets see what YOU call tough..
LOL. Is that damning with faint praise? ; )
Have a good one.
It was great strategy, but I was scared to death the whole time.
It was savage ..... just as savage as what the Dems. and the lying liberal media are doing now to Bush.
So, along those lines, see post 201!
I hope we are going to see him fly off those ropes and kick some ass. There is one h*ll of a lot of ass that needs kicked!

The old established/liberal/socialist media is America's most ruthless, relentless, and destructive enemy.

Indeed!
When has the White House fought back? Why will they start now? "Can't we all just get along?" See how Ted Kennedy and all the rest repay a hand of friendship? NO instead we will see Chuck Hagel, John McCain, Olympia Snow etal continuing to kiss up to the Dems and the MSM
So far, I must admit it looks that way.
Let's just hope Bush doesn't end up like Benny Kid Paret.
Right on!
Your post is foolish.
Interesting. Didn't know that.
:-)
====================================================
They will fight back now because they realize that support for the war is eroding. The President's hand is being forced, and no matter how he wants to try to get along, the RAT bastard fifth column is not playing the same game.
see posts 201 and 205, and then maybe you won't write such inane, misdirected foolishness.
I have always wondered if he were playing it close to the vest to protect national security and leads on which we may be working. He can't stay silent, however, in the face of the onslaught by the RATS.
Just do it!
Yes...... I'm hoping that born again Christian in him hasn't disallowed that amazing poker playing ability in him from back at Harvard (post # 201).
He has been far too nice to his opposition. They are playing with the lives of our troops. Dubya has to realize that he must fight back to keep up morale.
