Have you tried the google email? G-mail? I am very curious to know people's experiences with that.

I have a gmail account and my daughter uses it for her personal email. It is much less annoying than hotmail because the ads are text and don't take forever to load.

I believe that your emails are scanned in order to target advertising. If this bugs you, you will probably not want an account.

You get 2.4 GB of attachment space. I prefer Yahoo mail myself.

I use G-mail for what ever website I feel will eventually create spam. However, a friend uses g-mail as his normal e-mail account and he is happy with it.

One other thing, there is a second party software company that has developed some beta software that can use create a virtual drive on your g-mail storage and you can back up your files to it. Very handy!

Google is so cool. Yes, I turn to it for about anything I need to research a price on, get an address for, etc. And YES, I own their stock -- and like most people, I wish I had gotten more when it was cheaper.

Two of their apps I highly recommend if you haven't used them yet: Google Toolbar and Google Earth.

The Toolbar lets you search without having to go to their front page (you can do it from the page you're on). Really convenient. BTW, the Ebay bar is very convenient too.

And Google Earth is an app that lets you use satillite imagry to look at the earth. VERY cool. Search for addresses, or just use it for just looking for that new piece of Real Estate you're interested in. BE ADVISED that you need a broadband connection and about a 2BG processor to make it work well.

You can find both here:

Have phun ;)

I've had one minor issue with it not getting my own posts to Yahoogroups like all other emails have, but other than that it's been great.

(Normally I wouldn't care but it's an addy for a Pern roleplay, so it would be handy to have a record of my own posts to keep details straight.)

I LOVE Gmail. It organizes everything by conversation- so you open one conversation and see all of the emails going back and forth in order. It makes everything SO organized. FRmail me if you want me to send you an invitation for a gmail account :)

Once you get used to the way it works, it's The. Best. Email. Ever.

Just today, I needed an address that somebody sent me a few months ago. I knew it had to do with a dinner party. I typed "dinner party" in my email search box, and it pulled up the address for me.

I see no reason to ever go back to a non-web based email service. (Plus i have like 2 gigs of storage)
