Please cite for me three specific instances where the Patriot Act has been used to infringe on Civil Liberties. Not generic "what ifs" but specific instances of real abuses.
Your remarks indicate you don't even grasp the nature of the debate over renewal of Patriot and certain provisions.
Patriot I was rushed through in the aftermath of 9/11 by a panicked Senate. A few have any great objections to it. But as a matter of permanent national security concerns, balanced with our concerns for civil liberties, Patriot II has to be scaled back.
You're simply out of the mainstream on this. And Hagel and people like Ron Paul have concerns about this.
Maybe you should start to think about what a Hillary! could do with such legal measures. It provides the pretext for all sorts of politically-motivated actions. Places like FR could easily be affected.
And if civil liberties don't concern you, well, too bad. After all, Hagel and Nelson of Nebraska don't have to worry about the two-bit opinions of people from Minnesota. BTW, I suggest you clean up your own state's senators before hacking on mine.
Some people would say you might do better to tend your own knitting.
