The WashPost is violating the First Rule of Holes. "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

Only two people could have authorized a third party to enter the private Freep mail in this matter -- the holder of the screen name NCPAC, and the holder of the screen name MD4Bush. But the Post has no permission from either of those.

It certainly didn't get permission from NCPAC, and it denies that it knows who MD4Bush.

The Post is building the case against itself, brick by brick.

Exactly, so what conclusion can we derive from this other than WAPO is lying bigtime.

The WaPO has underestimated FReepers.

The FR pit-bulls have their jaws locked on the WaPos neck and are not gonna let go. Every time they speak and write more about this, the pit-bulls are clamping down a little tighter!

They're busted hard and they know it. I read this as the distress signal - they're hoping the NYT and the rest of the media will circle the wagons like they did when the TANG documents were exposed. The question is, will the rest of the media realize the seriousness of this and come charging to the rescue, or will they try to capitalize at the Compost's expense?

John, Check out #7. Users don't have the authority to disclose account and password information to any 3rd party, under FR Terms of Use.

MD4BUSH couldn't have authorized the Post to use the account, because he didn't have that authority.

But then, I'm not an attorney, so I might be talking out of my hat.

You two are saying contradictory things on a single point:
Did WaPo deny or confirm they know who MD4Bush is?

Thanks.

What do you think are the legal liabilities and financial liabilities that the Washington Post could face if it turns out that MD4Bush is a Washington Post staffer or a Post staffer worked in collusion with whomever MD4Bush is?
