Israel Advocate: God Will Judge U.S. Stance Toward His Chosen People
Agape Press ^ | 11/4/05 | Chad Groening

Jerusalem-based evangelical organization says the recent comments of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice demonstrate that America has a mixed record when it comes to protecting God's covenant land and people.

Secretary Rice created a stir when she hosted a state Ramadan dinner and praised Islam as a religion of "peace and love." She has also joined others in criticism of Israel for efforts to secure its borders against Palestinian terrorist attacks.

David Parsons is a spokesman for the International Christian Embassy, Jerusalem (ICEJ), an organization created to give Christians worldwide a focal point in the State of Israel and to represent Christian concern for the Jewish people. Opened in September 1980, the Embassy exists in part to represent the concern of millions of Christians who love and honor the Jewish people and seek to obey God's Word concerning them.

Parsons says it is "a dangerous game for any nation to pressure Israel into divesting itself from land that God gave to her," and that America's role in Israel's prophetic destiny is still "hanging in the balance." He says although America has been and continues to be generous with aid to Israel, the U.S. government has not always sent a consistent message of solidarity with the Jewish state.

"I'd have to say it's a mixed record right now," Parsons observes. "We're [Israel's] friend, and yet we're pressuring her. Is America selling out Israel for oil? One day this will be judged."

On the one hand, the ICEJ spokesman says, "We bless Israel by the $3 billion in economic and military aid that we give each year, by defending Israel at the U.N., the Security Council, with our veto. In many ways we're Israel's best friend and ally; but in other ways we pressure her into divesting from land."

In the end, Parsons notes, it is God who will judge how good a friend America has been to Israel. "He promises a judgment of all nations on the issues of dividing the land and scattering his people," the Embassy spokesman says.

In addition to raising Christians' awareness of information and events of significance to Israel, ICEJ also encourages believers to travel to the Holy Land and to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as well as the land and peoples in and around Israel. In addition, the Embassy works to mobilize Christian leaders, churches and other organizations to assist in promoting understanding among Christians, Arabs and Jews through various programs.

They really should be worrying about the Arab stance towards Israel. Once they that figured out, we can talk about the U.S.

So what's new? We hear the same crap in America about our own borders...

In reality, the US has had one of the best records of anyone in support of Israel.

The Arabs want Israel destroyed. That's it.

What Israel does vis a vis that threat is directly related to what the US allows.

What the US has allowed is that Israel survives but never wins. That a certain spilling of Jewish blood is an acceptable consequence of keeping the Arab oil flowing.

I'm really surprised by SecSt vocalizing this position.

IT IS NOT WHAT BUSH HAS ALWAYS DONE - HE HAS ALWAYS STRONGLY SUPPORTED ISRAEL.

This bothers me .. because the Bible is clear .. America is blessed because of her support and defense of Israel. If the president's policy has changed .. we're in for trouble. World history has proven it to be true. Everytime we had a leader who did not support Israel .. some calamity came to America. This is not a joke.

I believe that we will all be judged individually on our stand on important positions, including Israel. On a country-wide level, well, I'm not so sure. Perhaps the 51% or so who do the right thing will be separated by God from the 49% who don't...I'm being optimistic on those percentages BTW.

I'd go as far as to say that the U.S. has the BEST record for supporting Israel.

This is the primary reason for Arab hostility towards America, and without our support, well, lets just say I wouldn't give them two cents for thier chances of lasting more than a year. I only hope they appreciate everything the U.S. has to put up with from the rest of the world for being such close allies with Isreal.

God bless Isreal and America.

IF the U.S. completely obeys the Arabs and dumps Israel, Israel may survive -- but America never will.

Such craven appeasement of the Arabs/Muslims will be the U.S's deathknell.

Our operations in Iraq and Afghanistan depend on bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Jordan; on free passage for our ships through Suez in Egypt, overflight rights in Pakistan, intelligence assistance from most of those countries, soldiers from Afghanistan and Iraq.

We will always walk a fine line in trying to keep that very slippery alliance together. Normally, Israel understands what we are doing, and does what it can to avoid making things any more complicated than necessary, because in the end what we are doing redounds to her benefit.

But in the end Israel has to look out for Israel. Israel always has to be clear with itself and with us what lines she can cross and what lines she dare not cross when her security is at issue. Americans love Israel, and will not purposely betray her, but our interests and hers are not identical and we will occasionally bump into one another. Its fair for Israel to be forthright in defending its interests even with a friend, just as it is to be expected that we will sometimes push back.

"He promises a judgment of all nations on the issues of dividing the land and scattering his people"

This isn't going to fly in Hindu India or Buddhist China or Orthodox Russia or Muslim North Africa. What will fly is "I claim this land ... it is mine ... and I'm prepared to defend it." That's the way it's always been and that's the way it will always be.

Agree. There would have to be another Ronald Reagan to get me to have any faith in our government. I hope the damage that Condi has done to the US-Israel ties can be repaired but I am not optimistic :(

And this can be found in the Bible where?
