MONEY FOR MCCAIN
Sen. John McCain, a potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate, has gotten a tepid response to a New York City fund-raiser Monday for his "Straight Talk America" political action committee.
McCain signed a Sept. 27 letter announcing his appearance at the St. Regis Hotel Nov. 7. The price was $1,000 per person for a 6 p.m. reception and $5,000 per person for a 7:30 p.m. dinner.
Many New York contributors to McCain's 2000 presidential campaign were reluctant to attend this year's event. The fact McCain will be 72 years old for the 2008 presidential campaign was cited to explain lack of enthusiasm, as was the senator's support for the Iraq war.

That should be: "Concern over insanity slows McCain Prez Findraising."
Ah, New Hampshire...
That's when I knew I had them!
Agreed.
That ain't AGE we're concerned about....
It's not just his age, it's his health. sad.
I will never support McCain. He sells us out at the worst moments.
I think what McCain is really discovering is that he will only be supported by the MSM and NY establishment as long as he is useful to them.
When McCain's criticizing George Bush, filibustering conservative judicial nominees, and complaining about the religious right, he is the golden boy of the MSM and the NY elite.
However, if he actually tries to run AGAINST their golden girl (Hillary), the knives will come out.
I see that some of McCain's wealthy Democrat backers have gotten cold feet this time around, huh...
Will they close their checkbooks for Hillary because of her "support" for the Iraq war, too?
"I see that some of McCain's wealthy Democrat backers have gotten cold feet this time around"
Are these wealthy Democrats truly supporting McCain or just making mischief by sowing discord in the Republican ranks?
I'm not all too familiar w/ McCain's conduct, other than my hearing about his having a problem w/ his temper & that he was a member of the Keating 5.
I despise McCain because of his being a Council On Foreign Relations internationalist who wishes to dissolve our borders, he is a big time Drug Warrior, & his insulting Pat Buchanan when he left the GOP about 10 yrs ago.
I will never support McCain. He sells us out at the worst moments.""
IMO, he has proven this over and over again. I would never support McCain no matter what his age is.
I respect him for his actions when a POW, but that is the limit of my sysmpathy for McCain.
He vears from one position to another rather like a billiard ball on a pool table. Arizona needs to retire him for a real conservative.
I've seen everything he's done for years as a carefully calculated part of his presidential ambitions.
When was the last time he was co-author of a bill with anyone BESIDES a big-lib-Democrat?
Who knows what this guy's gonna do...run as an independent, possibly? I know that he said he thinks he's too good to accept the lowly job of being someone else's VP runnung mate.
BTW, a couple of days ago I caught the tail end of the Paula Zahn show and she was just gushing about him and seems she implied he'll run for prez.
I hate to say it but i get the feeling if mccain should win the presidency, he will drop dead before the 8 years are up.
Also check out the unrelated but scary item at the bottom of the column about "animal rights" types advocating murder.
The difference between mccain and a reagan was that reagan was healthy and looked healthy at his age, mccain is not and it looks like his face is falling off.
