HARRISBURG | A national political group for gays is staging dozens of mock ''retirement parties'' for U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum across the country this month as part of a campaign to mobilize activists for the 2006 elections.
So far, the National Stonewall Democrats and its local chapters have signed up hosts for about 40 parties in more than a dozen states, including six in Pennsylvania and several as far away as California, organizers say. Nearly all the parties are scheduled for Nov. 13.
Although the parties are expected to generate little money the collective goal is only $5,000 organizers say the real benefit will be energizing rank-and-file activists for next year's campaigns and the 2008 presidential election.

Any excuse for a "gay" old time, I suppose.
Ultra-mega Barfer.
This is going to kill the MSM and the Dems when Rick wins again.
The gay lobby is targeting him and that will go over SO well in central PA.
The media says he trails Casey. All Casey does is remind us that the Democrats threw his father out of the party and by extension all of us Catholics and everyone else who thinks abortion is murder.
So Santorum's opponent is his fellow Catholic Casey, who will take money and support from gays and abortionists in an attempt to defeat Santorum, who is true to his religion's teachings.
This could happen if the conservatives in Pa. don't go all out to save Rick.
How hateful.
The organized "gays" really hate Santorum. He must be doing something right.
Hate speech.
If he wins, does that mean they stick it to themselves?
No they stick it to each other.
Way too many conservatives are going to do their best to make sure Santorum loses even though it means electing a liberal Democrat.
I think eventually Santorum will pull this out. One thing, Casey is anti-abortion and anti-gay rights although he is liberal everywhere else. The last time Santorum was up for re-election back in 2000, the Democrats nominated a pro-life, pro-gun Democrat in Ron Klink, and the national Democratic party barely helped him, and Santorum won re-election. Second, Santorum is a much better campaigner than people give him credit for. WHen he was in Congress, he represented a majority Democratic district. THird, Casey is only running on his father's name and he is not a great campaigner like Santorum. Once it plays out, it is likely Santorum will win re-election. Don't give up.
I'd like to volunteer for Santorum. I want to see this guy run for President someday...That would be a fitting "retirement" for him, and I'd do anything to help him get there.
