Attorneys for Lewis "Scooter" Libby are likely to question whether the political bias of news outlets involved in the Leakgate case played a role in testimony by their reporters against top White House officials, reports the Wall Street Journal.
"Just wait until defense counsel starts examining their memories and reporting habits, not to mention the dominant political leanings in the newsrooms of NBC, Time magazine and the New York Times," warns the Journal in an editorial on Friday.
NBC Washington bureau chief Tim Russert - the star prosecution witness against Mr. Libby - should offer particularly fertile ground on this count.
His "Meet the Press" broadcast was among the first to showcase claims by Leakgate accuser Joe Wilson, the disgruntled former Clinton official who famously charged that the White House lied about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

They'll need a teleprompter to testify in complete sentences.
Never happen.
LOL! Reminds me of the SNL skit where a teleprompter breaks on a morning program and within minutes the set degenerates into violent, cannibalistic anarchy.
We can almost predict the schpin that will come out of this coverage.
Anything said by the administration of 'Mr. Bush' (I hate that) will be ALLEGED and anything said by any left-wing sympathizer will be FACTs that are ASSERTED and PROVEN.
That's just the start of it.
Does the Washing press corps realize what a big bunch of tantrum throwing babies they look like? The little tantrum baby gang having their goo-goo wah-wah frenzy at every press conference just makes me sick. Is there one person there more interested in the truth than their personal legacy, byline and camera shot?
I suspect we'll see whole new definitions to words , like the infamous Lier-in-chiefs definition of "is" and that a BJ isn't sex.
The only problem is that such will not be considered to be a defense by a DC jury.
They need a law moving the venue of political trials out of DC. The Dems can't get convicted, and the GOPers can't get acquitted.
Should be very interesting to observe the obvious biasness of mainstream media.
Yeah, the Republican politicos need to reside in Virginia. More conservative jury pool!
What will never happen? MSM testimony>
If this goes to trial there WILL be MSM testimony. Media types are Fitzgerald's only witnesses, and they will undergo withering cross examination.
Wouldn't help. The venue is where the crime was allegedly committed, not where the defendant lives.
One of the skanks on Err America says today that a poll shows 51% of Americans favor impeachment of GWB. Who knows the source of such a poll - probably held on the DUmmies web site. There is some one month old news about Zogby conducting such a poll, but he was demanding payment - certainly Soros could fork over a few pennies for such! Are these people so brain dead that they honestly believe America removes its President based on a POLL?? They are imploding; or is the "impeachment fire" really growing to the point where they think they can get some Repubs to go along with articles of impeachment? What would it be based on? The supposed lies (THAT EVERYONE TOLD)? Yes, I know the house is controlled by the Repubs.
AMEN and AMEN.
but since no crime was committed?
The Score in the Race to Judgment at the White House
Clinton Democrats:
61 indictments or misdemeanor charges
33 convictions
14 imprisonments
7 independent counsel investigations
72 congressional witnesses pleading the Fifth Amendment
19 foreign witnesses who declined interviews by investigative bodies
17 witnesses fleeing the country to avoid testifying
Bush Republicans:
1 indictment, not even on the primary issue
Here's some more wishful thinking. I wish they would televise this trial. That is the only way we will know for sure what is said during the testimony. Otherwise it will be reported by news reporters!
