Vallely: Wilson told me 'my wife is CIA' in 2002 [my title]
The John Batchelor Show ^ | 11/03/05 | (my summary of radio report)

Posted on 11/04/2005 7:44:45 AM PST by shhrubbery!

Paul Vallely, on air last night on the John Batchelor show, said he met Joe Wilson in 2002 in the "green room" of a cable network's studio.

Both Vallely and Wilson were waiting to go on air. Wilson, at that time, was packaging himself as an expert on Iraq.

Vallely said that since he and Wilson found they had some acquaintances in common, they began talking. In the course of the conversation, Wilson told Vallely that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA.

This conversation, Vallely said, took place in 2002, several months before Plame's alleged "outing" at the hands of Karl Rove and Scooter Libby, via Robert Novak's column published July 14, 2003.

Vallely also said that his impression of Joe Wilson, at that time, was that Wilson was a "self-promoter" who was making the rounds of the news programs, likely in advance of publishing a book.

[Note: Vallely's link on the John Batchelor Show website (scroll down to "Paul Vallely" under heading "Current Intelligence") does not carry this report, at least not yet. Link at this time goes to Joe Wilson: Lying About Iraqi Uranium.]

The prosecutors will have a tough time with this defense witness. Certainly they will have a very difficult time if they attempt to impeach the witness. This guys has a really outstanding reputation.

In view of the revelation earlier that Prosecutor Fitzgerald wanted to indict Libby in October, 2004 in an "October Surprise" to undermine the White House re-election campaign, I would now expect this case to be dropped.

A bit OT... but what ever happened to Alexander? One night he's co-host, the next he's gone.

Interesting. My question is this... when is someone going to finally put the smack down on Wilson once and for all? It bugs me to no end the free ride and promotion he's getting in the MSM.

I think the problem is that while Wilson tells a whopper* on the MSM every day, he's been clever enough not to have told lies under oath.

What is really disgusting. . .is that MSM and yes. . .FoxNews. . .all these folks have known the truth here.

Granted Fox News at least has given 'hints' and negative comments along the way. . .but NO one; has blasted this guy out of the water; when they have every option available, to do just that.

I worry that since it has not happened yet - despite even Scooter Libby's indictment - that maybe he truth will never entirely. ..'out here'. . .

Seems way past time; and the wrong people paying for this ride - given, compliments of the Leftist Demrats.

It's not a conspiracy if you're paying attention. It's becoming more and more obvious every day that Joe Wilson is a self-serving media whore and Bush-bashing liar, and the MSM and 'Rats are covering for him.

How many witnesses like Vallely is Libby going to need before the jury starts to get the idea that half of Washington D.C. knew that Plame was CIA? That will make it a lot easier for Libby to claim that he "heard it on the grapevine" before he heard it from Cheney. Should be a slam dunk.

I can't wait to hear Wilson telling either the truth or his normal lies to a Libby jury. Imagine 20 witnesses testifying that they heard Wilson say that Valerie was with the CIA. If Wilson "can't recall" then why should Libby be able to. If he can then he confirms that "everybody knew". If he lies then he risks perjury. This is a classic rock and a hard place for Wilson. Gota love it.

I coulda, shoulda been a "lawya".

IIRC, Alexander, the resident Democrat, was unduly hostile toward a guest on the program, and Batchelor got mad and ditched him.

Batchelor did all the work on that show anyway.

I don't know, I have a feeling this admnistration is playing another poker hand here. It doesn't seem possible that Libby will be convicted of anything. There is a lot of posturing and huffing and puffing, but, it's going to take all the Dems' energy to keep the spotlight on this and away from their failure as a party. The Pubbies need to keep the focus on the policies that are working and the Dem obstructionism that is still running unchecked.

Several newsies have also reported that Wilson has done this, prior to the so-called "outing." As I have always said, someone needs to investigate the CIA and in particular, the Wilsons.

Nice. Let us indeed have a trial of Scooter Libby

I have thought all along that Wilson was the person behind his wife's problems.

Lord knows all his reasons for placing her and others in a predicament like what is happening.

Paging Mr Fitzgerald, paging Mr Fitzgerald.

Hmmm.... I find it interesting that MGen Vallely is only now making this statement since he has been a regular contributor to FoxNews. You'd think that he'd have been on air with this tidbit before now.

Perhaps Gen. Vallely testified before the Grand Jury to this effect? If so, he was bound to secrecy until the Jury closed down? I think that's how it works.

Why didn't he say something earlier? It's not like everyone hasn't been discussing this for 2 years?
