Ending birthright citizen would go a long way.

Don't they understand that they will have to amend the Constitution to do that? You can't just write unconstitutional laws and pretend that you amended it.

The headline is a lie; they don't seek to end birthright citizenship. They merely intend to restrict it to those it was intended for - the children of citizens and legal resident non-citizens.

If a felon can be prevented from owning a firearm, why can't an illegal alien be prevented from having a citizen child?

If I rob a bank and then use that money to do a legal transaction to buy a car, I don't get to keep the car.

One cannot keep the fruits of their crime.

No Constitutional meddling needed.

One of the great things about America is that we grant citizenship to those born here. I would hope that still means something.

anchor babies WERE ended.

This is why the "dream act" was cobbled together. It was a failed attempt to bring back the anchor babies.

What happened is they now use undo or medical hardship (the child isADHD or some nonsense) in order to keep here. The lawyers have made out fine.

It is not enough to eliminate the anchor baby, YOU MUST ELIMINATE THE WORK AROUNDS DEVELOPED BY LAWYERS TO BYPASS the previous elimination.

Tom Tancredo has more balls than President Bush ever will.

I hope this goes somewhere, but I'm just assuming the spineless Republicans will collapse under the weight of the "racism" charges from the Left.

"There is a general agreement about the fact that citizenship in this country should not be bestowed on people who are the children of folks who come into this country illegally," said Rep. Tom Tancredo

You seen this yet???

Thank God for Congressman Tancredo and the Minutemen, some of the very few heros we have on immigration.

I hope the repeal of "birthright" citizenship is put in motion soon, the borders will be sealed, and next we tackle other problems with legal immigration (like who do we want to move into our country and how many of them do we want).

This is the equivalent of saying COME HERE PREGNANT WOMEN, MAKE IT HERE ILLEGALLY... and you will win the big prize!

Let me tell you... people are not dumb, especially when they are desperate for a better life. So, it's the US's fault for encouraging illegals to do this!

"Birthright " Citizenship should never have happened in the first place.

"There is a general agreement about the fact that citizenship in this country should not be bestowed on people who are the children of folks who come into this country illegally," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, who is participating in the "unity dinners," the group of Republicans trying to find consensus on immigration."

ABSOLUTELY. The amendment to the constitution which allows this was enacted to provide citizenship to freed slaves after the civil war, not to extend a gravy train to an army of invading Goths and Vandals.

As long as it's just ending anchor baby syndrome, I'm all for it. I hope they're not seriously considering making ALL births ineligable for citizenship!

Better yet, put this idea on the backburner and go with the other one, with some minor modification if I may: Erect a 20 foot barrier all along the border with motion sensitive guns.

Violates human rights? I don't care.

House Republicans are looking closely at ending birthright citizenship and building a barrier along the entire U.S.-Mexico border as they search for solutions to illegal immigration.

NOW we're talking the right kind of action.
