It only takes 2 weeks of rioting, after that the French will surrender half of their country.

I don't think so, rioters burning cars and homes in Texas (and now Florida) would just be shot by the homeowners. -> End of riot.

It seems that for the moment they are relying on the police.
If what is being said on French Islamic websites does happen this friday evening. then I think the army will have to be called in.
Rumours on the ISLAMIC websites are of a massive rebellion not only in Paris but in 700 cities...Of course it is only rumours and as you may know, ARABS do tend to exagerate.

IMO, if there is a bit of truth to that rumor, the French government better be out in front of this now. I don't expect that they will, but when does it move from a police/law enforcement problem to one of national security?
If they wait, it may be too late.
Are there links to scanner broadcasts by the Paris Police? That would be fun listening.
according to FRENCH LAW 55-385 of the 3rd of April 1955 a state of emergency could have been applied. Why itis not being used. I can only guess Chirac hopes that the riots will die away soon.
How ironic, the Great CHIRAC having to fight his own INTIFADA...one can't but just sit back and enjoy.
The French government is in a state of sheer panic and dare I say embarassement. De VIllepin the donor of lessons at the UN (remember him ?) has to deal with it.
Chirac must be missing his pal (excuse the pun)Arafat, he could have asked for advice on how to deal with occupied territories.
