The Fox News ticker says that he resigned because public broadcasting was too liberal and gave no equal time for conservative views.

Dammit, Republicans, I thought you were going to get PBS and other useless appendeges off the taxpayer teat!

How's that "limited government" thingie you've been promising for decades coming along?

Just defund the damn thing. If it survives without stealing money by force, fine.

Not just defund but get rid of the whole CPB. Defunding will leave it open to funding again sometime in the future. Go commercial or start handing out pink slips. NPR need to start contributing to the tax base instead of sucking from it.

CUT ALL PBS FUNDING, NOW!!!

They are anything but bipartisan!

PBS is a playhouse for liberal lunatics who can't get a job anywhere else or were fired from other jobs (which should tell you how bad they are).

Most Freepers disagree but I see the Corporation for Public Broadcasting a place for conservatives to get involved.
Why give this precious ground away. The public funding is minuscule. Most public broadcasting stations rely on local funding for most of their budget.
The kid's shows on PBS are the best anywhere on TV and the classical music (except satellite)and live symphony presentations are not available elsewhere.
Why don't we get involved on the local level and make our voices heard?

Note: The Republicans continue to fund Public Broadcasting.

There is the problem in a nutshell!!!The republicans need to grow some balls and lead!

After 40 years of liberal rule in America, The republicans have been expected to do something positive in American leadership. Since the "Contract with America" Americans have expected action from the republicans.

Hey folks, we're at war with idiots, start acting like it! Tell the left to kiss ol fan and tell them get in the back seat - they lost! If we are perceived as some kind of luke warm appeasers, we'll be gone in less than two election cycles

Right.

Should the Republicans lose seats next year or 2008, and/or lose the White House, you can mark this down as another item in the list of why the Republicans lost.

The reason--not because of a surge in new RATs, but because Republicans can't even find their balls to (for one example) stop funding public broadcasting. If they can't do this, then for sure they can't cut $15 billion to Africa and other insane spending.

Thanks, FGS.

Truth is my friend, even though the CPB/PBS monstrosity has become a non-player, making this development truly a moot issue.

...I despise *quitters*.

It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. The loony left is made up of busybodies who want to run the show but they don't have the skills, vs conservatives who have the skills but just want to be left alone. Talk about yer conundrum!

The wahr with the left has placed conservatives in an uncharacteristic AND uncomfortable positon of meddling in other peoples' business. The left, by nature, have set the stage and drawn the battle lines for this confrontation. By default, we play by their rules.

A republic.....if you can keep it?

Now here comes the New York Times and talk of an "inquiry" into alleged criminal misuse of funds. Drudge has the story now.

Looks like the Dems are going to keep this "Culture of Corruption" thing going all the way until next November.

Yup.
I'd say that about sums up the situation pretty well, my friend.

Unfortunately since it takes time to evolve the kinds of testículos required to beat-back the suckers, the handwriting's kind of on the ol' proverbial wall.
We simply cannot change and/or accelerate our own evolution now, can we.
So we die the death of a thousand cuts.

"The wahr with the left has placed conservatives in an uncharacteristic AND uncomfortable positon of meddling in other peoples' business."

Oh I dunno, both sides seem to do their fair share of meddling.
It's what they do *&* don't meddle [in] I find curious, and, likely leading to the eventual cause of the Republic's failure in the bloody end.

"The left, by nature, have set the stage and drawn the battle lines for this confrontation. By default, we play by their rules."

Yea well we're members of "The Stupid Party", remember.

It's like the recent polls showing the POTUS' approval at a, "new all time low"?
We on the right know damned well what the Liberal-Socialist quislings *did* to arrive at their nefarious numbers, yet seems many on the right*accept* said numbers as if they were legit? Initiate the debate from that point? Rarely if ever considering the source?
Help me here, WTF's wrong with *that* picture?

If the right were comprised of real fighters we'd have anticipated the scam.
I mean it's not as if the Liberal-Socialists are using a new scheme manipulating polls, is it.
Our guys should've responded -- within the HOUR -- to each & every phony baloney Liberal-Sociialist crafted poll they release with *like* polls of our own.
Yea, polls taken from among those known to favor a rightists agenda incorporating loaded questioned(s) -- & equally skewed, eh?
"Jam" the suckers.

Whose polls would be correct one would be compelled to ask of themselves, wouldn't they? :o)

In the end the treasonous Liberal-Socialist quislings & shills would be reduced to attacking. Criticizing, impugning & impeaching *our* results in lieu of theirs while at the very same time expecting the nations citizens to accept theirs at face value? :o)
*That* my friend would have the net effect of making them look the FOOLS they are.
And isn't that what we need to be doing at every opportunity?

But noooooo instead righties draw their knives & begin carving one another up, instead!!
Smarrrrrrt, eh? ;^)

"A republic...if you can keep it?"

Yea.

...that's what he said, alright.

"Kenneth Tomlinson, the former board chairman of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting accused by critics of trying to politicize public television and radio"

Ha Ha Ha. When its left wing it isn't "political," but when someone tries to bring some balance to it it becomes "political!"

Heh, everything, but it helps me maintain perspective when I realize they're just a holdover from an earlier time....much earlier time. Not saying the old grey whore is out of step, but this from a dig near the island called Manhattan...

"Jam" the suckers.

Well, you know what that would do doncha. Weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth from every corner of the goebbelist globe. "The Pubbies have gotta cheat on polls to skew the results! Waaahhh..." Tough set of rules the Dims/commies/goebbelists have laid down, eh? "Cheating for me but not for thee, or we're tellin'". Whoya gonna call?

But noooooo instead righties draw their knives & begin carving one another up, instead!!

Yeah well, we're easier targets. Hard to shovel their smoke(screen) ;^)
