Kenneth Tomlinson, the former board chairman of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting accused by critics of trying to politicize public television and radio, has resigned from the board, it said on Thursday.
Tomlinson, a Republican, quit shortly before CPB Inspector General Kenneth Konz was to publish a report after investigating his activities, including paying outside researchers to check public programming for liberal bias.
Critics, including broadcasters and congressional Democrats, accused Tomlinson of trying to advance his own conservative agenda in public broadcasting, which is supposed to be non-partisan.

Heres the statement I love the most:
"Critics, including broadcasters and congressional Democrats, accused Tomlinson of trying to advance his own conservative agenda in public broadcasting, which is supposed to be non-partisan."
Says it all.
There's only one proper response... appoint someone even more conservative to take his place. Rinse and repeat until libs decide to STFU.
Ooooooh for crying out loud! And as I often see people write in these threads...............please please oh please.
This is starting to look like the repeat of the 1905 and follow up 1917 revolutions in the mother land.
The leftists believe their own BS. Nothing will change the mindset of these animals.
Yes, that statement really does say it all. Note: The Republicans continue to fund Public Broadcasting.
He was there to stop the liberal bias in their programming. It's really time to defund PBS. The extreme far left has laid claim to it, so it no longer serves the American people. Shut it down.
Exactly. Personally the best thing they can do is cut all funding for PBS and let it rise or fall on its own or sink like an old tennis shoe into the gloomy waters of Lake Wobegone. We do not need it and the people who want it and Public Radio can pay for it.
Here's the problem - PBS defines "nonpartisan" as liberal elitist.
Yep. This would be a good program to cut to help the deficit and pay for hurricane clean up in the southern states. The money could be used for useful purposes.
Conservatives ? We don't need no stinkin conservatives !!!

Tom Delay for President. I think he's the only one who'd tell the left wing kooks to take a hike when they start their childish nonsense.
Think President Bush will appoint Robert H. Bork to replace him?
You needn't wonder.
The whole CPB/PBS/NPR mess should be de-funded, but the GOPers don't have the stomach to do it. Now, the propagandists will be more emboldened than ever.
Both were recently elected by the Board. Of course, that was thrown in at the end of the article.
Maybe things aren't so dreary after all?
"Only tangentially related - Sometimes I wonder if Tom DeLay is the only Republican pol with any balls whatsoever."
How about Rudy? And to get back on topic, PBS, with the advent of cable TV, became superfluous.
He should resign, it doesn't take a hired researcher to figure out PBS is biased.
