He was there to stop the liberal bias in their programming. It's really time to defund PBS. The extreme far left has laid claim to it, so it no longer serves the American people. Shut it down.

Worth repeating many times. You nailed it.

The last person to make a serious run at defunding CPB/PBS/NPR because of its liberal bias was Sen. Larry Pressler of SD. Rather than back him up, the Republican party hung him out to dry...

"There's only one proper response... appoint someone even more conservative to take his place. Rinse and repeat until libs decide to STFU."

I wonder what John Ashcroft is doing these days?

The ONLY people who have been complaining about the scrutiny of the programming at PBS have been the liberals.

They don't want anyone even LOOKING at it.

No.

The appropriate response is to cut the funding completely, shut the doors, and sell off the assets.

Sell PBS & NPR to ErrAmerica for $1, and see what they can do in the marketplace.

including paying outside researchers to check public programming for liberal bias.

I've been doing it for free all these years and I COULD HAVE BEEN PAID FOR IT???

Yep, a daily dose of ultra right wing conservatism sounds perfect to me. Conservatives need to tune out the temper tantrums.... like this:

Yeah. Defund the foul, stinking dinosaur, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
The GOP is looking for more "cuts"? Here's a prime target.

I agree. That's the spirit! Otherwise, as the Dems see that they keep succeeding time and time again to chase away and get rid of the Republicans they don't like, they are just emboldened more and more.

It will never happen. One, it's one of those chisled in stone programs that people think is sacred. Two, the GOP run away like the cowards they are when libs bring in Big Bird to be the face of CPB.

The fact Big Bird is a billionare due to corporate welfare that is CPB is never mentioned.

Three, the GOP is so feckless they can't even realize that if all federal funding was eliminated no one would truly even notice.

CRNNA

Or, "Conservative Republicans Need Not Apply".

CPB/NPR, like the taxpayer supported Universities, are openly discriminatory against anyone who is not a political leftist. Left-wing political propaganda is THE ONLY reason that the CPB still exists.

If a few percentage point difference in racial balance makes a private employer prejudiced and discriminatory, what does a 95% difference in religious and political philosophy mean (e.g. on University campuses; probably even less "diverse" at CPB)?

The CPB was on it's way to total federal defunding, and hired Tomlinson as a token Republican. He wasn't actually supposed to CHANGE anything (omg!!). So, the lefty's have enforced their prejudicial standards. If the GOP Congress had any b*lls, they'd push a bill to totally defund CPB through and have it on the President's desk within 48 hours. Unfortunately, about 15% of the "moderate" GOP'ers support most of the leftist agenda, so CPB is safe until the next election cycle.

Sometimes, I hate the GOP House and Senate worse than I do the Democrats. They are so worthless and gutless most of the time.

SFS
