Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) "filed a report with the Clerk of the House of Representatives indicating he received free travel valued at $13,998.55 from Fox News Sunday for 'officially connected travel' on October 1-2, 2005, from Sugarland, TX to Washington, D.C. and back to Sugarland, TX. Rep. DeLay appeared on Fox News Sunday on October 2, 2005, the weekend after his indictment on September 28, 2005."

Here's the deal: it's simple. Delay gets indicted. FOXNEWS wants him on Hannity the next day...he agrees but due to time constraints and convenience, they send their corporate jet to pick him up. What is wrong with that? You want Delay to pay his own ticket to be a guest on a tv show? I'm just glad that the TAXPAYERS don't have to pay for it.
ALL these politicians do it...I don't begrudge them a thing. So what?
A non story. All networks pay their guests for travel expenses. Next story.
If we have to be bothered with his mug on a tv show, yes. Let him pay for it. Or does he and every other politician not get enough 'funding' from 'concerned citizens' for it to come out of his pocket?
The smear continues, this is just the latest part. There's also a hit piece in Salon that has an email (probably forged) supposedly from a Delay aide calling conservative Christians "wackos." The RATS will stop at nothing.
Yeah, well it's a shame some "conservatives" don't have more faith in one of our most inspiring GOP leaders, and the only network that even comes halfway close to getting out the conservative message.
Or he could have just done the interview from a studio in Houston. Modern communication technology is a wonderful thing. People don't HAVE to be in the same room to talk to each other.
I'm sorry, this looks like either 1) cluelessnes on Delay's part as to the PR effect of this 2) the typical arrogance of a long term politician or 3) plain old fashioned graft. Maybe a little bit of all three. Delay may have an R next to his name, but this stinks none-theless.
No, but if he can't go somewhere for less than 14k, maybe he should just phone it in. He's not a rock star or a CEO, he's a public servant. At the very minimum, this looks bad and gives his enemies more ammunition. I'd like to see an itemized accounting of this bill and see just what the money went for.
Where did you hear that Rush gets $100,000 for appearing on Tim Russert's show? Do you have a link?
Yeah, right. Uh-huh. Sure.
DeLay declares 'victory' in war on budget fat
Another big-spending, government-expanding, professional politician lying, another day.
and the only network that even comes halfway close to getting out the conservative message.
And which enables DeLay to piss away $14 grand on a two-day junket, because he's a "public servant".
Cavuto and Hume are excellent, the rest is mostly dreck, especially that idiot Smith and blowhards like O'Reilly and Hannity. Not exactly the perfect network.

Thanks for the ping!
