A 55-year-old inmate who was condemned for the abduction, sexual assault and beating death of a nine-year-old girl, was executed just after 6 p.m. Thursday in Huntsville.
Melvin Wayne White confessed to the slaying of Jennifer Gravell, who lived two houses from him in the small West Texas town of Ozona.
White blamed a lifelong drinking problem for the killing, but prosecutors insisted White was a pedophile who used alcohol as an excuse for his actions.
Jennifer's father, Charlie Gravell, shot himself to death in May 2003.

Welcome to Hell mother------! We don't know that for sure.He certainly could have made his peace with his Creator.Rumor has it that imminent death tends to focus one's attention on redemption.

Justice is sweet on rare occasions, such as this. God bless that little girl and her poor family.

Eight years if I remember correctly. The little girl was killed in a small West Texas town called Ozona. They should have executed him the day after the trial.

When a trial is over and the defendant is found guilty, another phase of the trial determines the recommendation of the death penalty. Once death is recommended, a third phase should begin to determine whether "overwhelming evidence" of guilt is present. If the finding is yes, the perpetrator should be placed on a fast track for execution and be executed within 90 days. No appeals, no remorse, just dead.

Meanwhile, here in CA, there is an all out effort to keep the co-founder of the Crips streetgang franchise, and murderer of 4 people, from being finally executed after 24 years on death row. Actor Jamie Fox wants "Tookie" to get away with murder for his birthday.

By most state's standards, that is pretty fast, though. Some states, it takes up to 20 years to dispense with all the appeals. Oklahoma followed Texas' lead and fast-tracked their executions. I guess that's why the libs attack us so badly regarding the number of executions. Me, I'm proud and thrilled!

Agree but then the whole Judicial mill that extracts enormous sums of money and exacts an unimaginable emotional toll on victims and their loved ones would have to find another place to ply their parasitic trade.
Sort of like Accountants/Tax Attorneys keeping real tax simplification and fairness at bay.
