can't have enough time to dig dirt on Judge Alito!!!
Specter looks in terrible health.
One wonders what dealmaking went on behind the scenes to come up with this date?
A slap at the pres who wanted confirmation by years end? RINO's who agree to such silliness? Well, maybe they made a deal for no filibuster if the hearings were delayed until after O'Conner could vote on more cases. (yeah, right...the dems would make such a deal or live up to it.)
I just wonder what makes the majority party act so wimpy.
Have them November 9, dammit, and get the business of the people MOVING--let him have an up or down vote.
GW might invoke executive privilige here... he has tha tright you know... just like the libs had a right to hold a closed door meeting
Specter cited the many cases that Alito has participated in as one of the reasons for a delay. That is phony. He has been on the A list for a long time and they have fully studied his record. Their briefing books are already compiled. There was some brief mention of "other documents" (Leahy stuck a note in front of Specter to remind him). I thinks we will hear more about that since the judicial decisions are already out there and are pretty much a dead end for the dems since Alito is such a straight arrow in that regard.
