I've been saying it for two days. Insurrection.
Denmark is having the same problem with riots. COINKY DINK?
Here's an interesting link to an English/French blog on the riots . . .

Probably -- and if so it's a typically stupid move by the salamikazes.
As long as the French were pussy-footing around to keep the Muslim population happy (and therefore working against our interests elsewhere in the world), the French were among their best allies.
But if this really is well-organized, the salamikazes will discover what too many around FR seem to forget: the French are perfectly capable of responding ruthlessly when they feel threatened. And this is shaping up as a real threat.
Media calls it a riot, but you're right, insurrection is a better description. After seven nights, this is obviously a campaign, more fitting with insurrection than riot.
ri·ot
A wild or turbulent disturbance created by a large number of people.
in·sur·rec·tion
The act or an instance of open revolt against civil authority or a constituted government.
Bingo. If the violence is organized it has to be an insurrection. The French governemnt should treat it as such.
