Someone has a strong sense that the "story" is about to break in this direction, and is jumping out in front, in order to say "see, isn't the Bush administration stupid for falling into this mess?"

I hope you're right.

I've re-read the darned thing over several times now, and I'm still not convinced it's satire. But it's certainly possible I'm retarded, as I've also been told above.

It is not satire. Of course he wants to take a smack at Bush, but what he is saying is this is what the CIA did to you even if it's partly your fault. This is quite amazing, imho. There is Toensing saying you ought to consider a CIA plot, Zell Miller saying doesn't this sound like a CIA plot, and now we have Hoagland at the WaPo on board. Who here ever trusted Tenet?
