Hmmm, will the Republicans in congress grow some balls and demand an investigation into this? I bet they will, especially since the congressional dems are not smart enough to let sleeping dogs lie.

As for Hoagland's chiding. One thing he should consider, nothing that the dems or MSM have tried have "gotten" Bush. Even with regard to the CIA, Bush has his man at the helm, and his man, by all reports, is cleaning house. The only thing that has gotten Bush is his own base.

Maybe the GOP in Congress could also investigate some prosecutorial misconduct on the part of Fitzgerald. My reading tells me Fitz was tasked with finding the identity of the person who leaked the status of a CIA covert officer. The first step, and easiest to take, would have been to ascertain if Plame was a covert officer at the time her name was leaked. if so continue with the investigation. If not, find no crime had been committed,

The manner of this investigation and Fitz's presser last week says that in his legal opinion Plame's status was irrelevant to whether crimes had been committed. the crimes being perjury and OoJ. But if no crime was committed in leaking Plame to the press then the legality of the succeeeding investigation seems suspect and its purpose clearly directed at entrapping someone in perjured testimony. Libby's lawyers should, IMVHO, pursue this in their defense, even to the point of calling Fitz as a witness to determine the timeline of when the outing of Plame as being a crime, became irrelevant.
